Short of a complete turnaround, you figure he is gone after the season anyway. Interesting that Emery's job is also in question. Could be a housecleaning....

This is a direct result of ownership not having a fucking clue how to run a team.

They were talking on the SCORE about that article. From what I have read about the current McCaskey running the team is he is not afraid to make a move if he doesn't like what he see's. If the Bears continue on this downward spiral, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts with Sweaty Teddy and on down.

Halas Hall is in desperate need of a good house cleaning.

What are Grudens thoughts about returning to the sidelines though? He seems to really love his MNF gig. Even if he is available i dont see the Bears having the stones to get him

I thought I saw something earlier this week where, tl;dr he indicated he might consider coming out of retirement for the Raiders job, but that was it. Validity of the statement? Who knows.

At this point would anything short of getting rid of everyone, Ted on down, make anyone happy?

No.

I hope George McCaskey realizes what needs to be done to win. Because this current group is not going to do it.

He does strike me as a lot sharper than Mikey. We can only hope!

Teddy might be re-assigned or kicked upsatirs, etc but he isnt going away. I am 100% sure of it. He knows where all the bdoies are buried and he buried most of them. Teddy is the President and CEO, so he remains the CEO, keeps his boards seats at the hire a new Football Guy President.

While I am ok with Rresty being shown the door, it's just a huge "I fucked up" by Emery if it happens. Then if you are going to hire a football guy above Emery, you may as well just fire his ass now.

The reason they need to hire a new football guy is because everything needs to be redone. Everything and everyone.

Maybe George knows it, but a housecleaning would be very unmccaskey like. The reports over the years of new GM's always have the caveat of "you need to keep this guy and that guy" and Arians reported it when he was interviewed as well of the people they needed to keep.

The scouts are 80% the same from the guy who said "David Terrell is a 1st rounder"

This alleged team president will also be going to the Park District to get a new lease.

This is a case of someone looking at the job thinking "It's the Bears"...then if that person is smart coming away with "fuck that, I am not taking that gig"

I sure hope they're not thinking about firing a guy under contract and hiring a new coach. That would be evil.

That's not the same at all.

Only being robbed at gunpoint and somebody having sex with your wife is the same.

What about me having sex with my wife at gunpoint? Worse than firing trestman under contract or better?

Yep.....this is the problem. Always some sort of restriction that comes with the job. Can you imagine any footbally coach sitting down with Sweaty Teddy and the Smartest Guy in The Room? "If you're hired, you'll have to keep these 2 guys"

Hate to keep repeating myself but George is going to have to turn the keys over to someone who's done it before. And let him do his hiring with no caveats.

I can't see them getting rid of Trestman this year. There needs to first be the obligatory sacrifice of an assistant coach, which will happen to Tucker (God help us all) at the end of this year. Maybe end of next year.

I do believe Trestman and Emery are on the same page of the wrong book!

I don't think enough gets said about what a pile of stinky crap this team was when Emery inherited it. Think about how many pro bowlers were lost on the defense in just the last three years. Urlacher and Peppers gone. Tillman is done. Briggs may be done. I think the reality is that its just going to take years to fix the defense. During that time, they may lose Marshall, Bushrod and Forte, so they will be trying to fix the offense after the defense is more stable.

When all said and done, Trestman worries me a lot more than Emery does. Emery has drafted three pro bowl caliber players, two on offense and one on defense. Drafting is really hard. He will realize soon, if not already, that he needs to draft a QB replacement for Cutler. I'm not sure that Trestman is the one you want for developing the new QB.

Emery was a scout for Angelo and I'm sure had some input in helping the Bears suck at drafting.

1. emery retained the existing pile of crap known as the scouts. The same ones who gave Angelo all the glaring reports on those great drafts!

2. Time for the "Briggs and Tillman" got hurt excuse to go away, as players over 30 years old have an amazingly high probability of getting hurt again.

3. Jared Allen might be one of the best examples of Emery's incompetence at this point. Not one person familar with league play said this was a good idea. The director of Pro players is Kevin Turks, he has been with the bears for 10+ years. he was there since Angelo was made to retain him!!!!!!

The word "sources" being used 8 times makes me wonder if this an incestuous CBS article, one which references other CBS writers? Unless this team implodes and doesn't win another game, Trestman will be back next year. He has one two many years remaining on his contract.

The problems are organizational as the team doesn't have football people in the key decision making roles. The top people are house people, promoted by bloodlines or from other roles. They hire coaches and put upon them certain responsibilities, most notably to manage the media. Lovie may not have been communicative enough for some but nowthe frequency of press conferences results in a lot of gibberish being spouted. Who's responsible for the assistant coaches being hired? If its not the head coach then whomever should be identified and appropriate scrutiny given.

There's too much talent on this team to not win at least three more games. But I don't see them having a winning record unless they go up against teams significant injuries, based upon the current schedule.

Jason was on M&H and he maybe talked to one player and he told us nothing new. His article is old news and is a guess with no real source.
