That's why they won't fire him. I've heard this a few times from a few different media people. I think Pompei and Hub said it.

My question: What evil things have the McCaskey's done that make them fearful to fire Teddy? I'm serious. What could he possibly have on them?

Please. Somebody explain.

Seriously, was Virginia a hooker back in the day? Did Michael murder somebody? Did they once order the players to throw a game to cover a gambling debt? What could Teddy have that makes them fearful of unleashing him to the word to tell these horrible stories of the McCaskey's?

More importantly, Teddy knows exactly which sets of books are for which sets of eyes.

Ginny a hooker? close. The reason the McCaskeys even own the Bears was due to Virginia sleeping with the Piano player at the bar (ed), knocking her up and then Papa George made them get married. not even sure Ed McCaskey was allowed around halas hall until George died.

But I dont think there are any bodies, its just these fucking people are enamored by the wizardry of Teddy and the money they make him. Even though I can only guess for 20% of what they pay Teddy they could hire a top accounting/consulting firm that would make them much more money and increase the value of the franchise dramatically.

I'll do it for a signed Roland Harper jersey.

No idea about what exactly the McCaskeys have done, but you don't believe there are skeletons lurking from the stadium deal Michael screwed up?

Some things you don't need to be told, to know its true.

Ok. Stadium deals stories and maybe cooking the books to save on taxes. So what? Big deal.

Plus, Teddy has been with the Bears for 30+ years. Made a good living. Probably has net worth well over 20 million. He's pushing 60 anyway. Gonna retire soon.

He's grateful to the Bears. They've been good to him. They set up him and his kids. Why is he gonna break bad if they fire him? He won't.

I think that's just a cute throw away line by Hub and Pompei. There are no real evil things that he knows of. It's the McCaskey's. They're dumb and weird, but I doubt they're evil.

There's no way Ted Phillips is worth $20 mil unless he got stock.

15 years as President. I think 15 years before that as a bean counter and contract negotiater. Something like that. You don't think he's worth 20 million? That was a low estimate on my part.

Just curious. What do you think his salary is as President of the Chicago Bears? Personally I would think 3 million per year when he started. Maybe up to 5 million now. Maybe more. Let's just go with that. Add that up for 15 years, take away the taxes and living expenses, add his investments and assets, not a stretch to say he's worth at least 20 million.

I'd say Ted makes $1.0-$1.5 mil these days.

President of a Club that's worth OVER 2 billion makes 1.5 million? C'mon, Doc. You're smarter than that. Assistant coaches make that and more in some cases.

Christ, the long snapper makes 1.5 million. Mannely got that much at the end. Maybe more.

You and Finfer are not helping Illinois recruiting.

 Value of replacement.

I think there are other accountants that could act like Presidents of companies. Toss an extra $500k out of loyalty and there you are.

Mike North was close to 1.5 million at the SCORE. You telling me the President of the Bears doesn't get 3X that, at least? Think about that.

I won't stop with the analogies until you concede that I'm right, Doc.

SAN FRANCISCO-- The new CEO of International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) has had her salary doubled from $800,000 to $1.5 million according to a regulatory filing.

Are they worth 2 billion plus? Do they have anual profits of over 80 million?

Doc: Damn you.

Beardown: Keep trying.

Well, then she's dumb for taking that. Or they have something on her.

I quick read it by the way. Didn't know it was IBM.

That's base salary. I am sure there are stock options there and that is where the majority of a CEOs salary comes from. The good old bonus also.

no way he makes $1MM. FAmily owned businesses do not throw cash around like that to non-family members.

Jeeze, some of you are pretty clueless.

Trestman makes about 3.5 million. Gotta figure Emery makes 2 or 3 million.

Yet you really believe that the President of the Chicago Bears doesn't even make 1 million?

I'll bet he's getting 4 or 5 million.

"Knows where the bodies are buried" is just a figure of speech for having information that's not supposed to get out, Beardown. It doesn't have to be sordid.

Holy shit, the next generation of McCaskeys might be even weirder. Check out Ed McCaskey:

He looks like the lovechild of Zach Zaidman and Alfred E. Newman. Our team's future, ladies and gentlemen.
