We all know Pace and Payton love each other. Fox signed for 4 years. In 3 or 4 years Brees will be done. Which means the Saints will be done. And Payton will want out cuz it will be over 13 years with the Saints and that's well past the expiration date for most coaches in one place. Bears will hopefully have a young talented team with a QB and ready to win. Payton will want to reunite with Pace

What the hell is wrong with this? Very logical. Not only are Pace and Payton best friends, but Payton is from here also.

I think you are right on the money with this. I would love to have Sean Payton as the Bears head coach.

Pace and Payton are "best friends"? They both seem to have a lot of respect for each other professionally but I have not heard them referred to as "best friends". This is how the dynamics between John Fox, Sean Payton, and Ryan Pace have been reported:
Quote:
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
John Fox’s best friend in coaching is Sean Payton. #Bears GM Ryan Pace worked closely with Payton. Safe to say Fox has all the info he needs

Alright, let's not get lost in the semantics. Best friends. Good friends. Friends. Whatever. Payton thinks highly of Pace. Pace thinks highly of Payton. Payton said he loved seeing Pace every day to talk football. They are friends with high regard for one an other. Good enough? Jeez.

Payton signed an extension in 2013. He's signed through 2017. At 8 million per year. They like him. Benson likes him. Benson will not eat the last 2 years. That would be 16 million.

"He is really good at what he does," Saints coach Sean Payton said about Pace last week. "He's a big part of what we do. He's very talented and I know he has been promoted here a few times, and deservedly so. I get fired up when he comes to see me first thing [in the] morning. His mind is already racing. I know he is all-in."

There would be no eating money if the new team was paying him equal or more, which is likely. Just like Fox. Denver owes him nothing, despite 2 years left on the deal.

True. And he would get 7 or 8 million per with a 2nd team. So it would be a wash and get the Saints off the hook. But I could see him sitting out to stick it to the Saints, making them pay and waiting for the Bears job. Cuz when you have 16 million coming, no hurry to get back.

I like Payton, but I really don't give a shit what he's doing 3 years from now. And if Fox is the right guy, no one else on this board will give a shit either.
