You can't replace the leadership role of T.Jones with C.Benson. Benson will be a bust next year like he was in the SuperBowl.

You are not going to pay Benson $17 million upfront to not start for 3 straight seasons, especially when Angelo drafted him it was with the thought that Benson would become a star in this league. Yes, I liked Jones a lot, but for that very reason, I understand the move.

The rest of the off-season, be glad that the Bears are sitting it out. We're not taking on bad contracts, and we had no gaping holes that required us to spend money in free agency.

I'm sure Angelo will add some DT or maybe a veteran S before the draft once he get a player on his own $$$$ terms.

Remember the draft is another way to help your team, and Angelo has done a great job in this department.

You are right. We are the only team in the NFL to lose players.

Thomas Jones was an average NFL back. Unless he gets injured, Benson will run for more yards this year than Jones did last year. Adrian Peterson is good enough to run the ball for a series.

Lance Briggs can be mad all he wants, but the Bears hold him for the next 2 years. He won't sit out one year and he won't sit out two years. He will play and he will play at a pro bowl level because that is his job.

Every othe player will be replaced through the draft and the Bears won't miss a beat.

We'll be fine.

While I think Briggs has every right to try to get as good a contract as he can (he could break his back on the first play of the first game for all we know) all these theatrics are just Drew Rosenhaus negotiating tactics. I suggest ignoring them.

Lance said, er, eludid to the fact that because the Bears got rid of so many of the "original" players that there is no way the Bears will do as well as they did last season. I'd like to revisit this thread in December and see where we are at.
