take it you are not of the Jak się masz type then?

I'm Polish, but no way in hell do I even attempt to eat that stuff. My dad loved it. He would go to one of the Polish stores nearby and bring a container home. Unfortunately for my mom, she had to heat it up for him and she couldn't stand it either.

my mom is not polish, but when my gramma evy(dad's mom) was alive every christmas eve my mom would make a polish meal that would surpass no other. Fresh and smoked Polish sausage, 5 types of pierogi's, smoked butt, kolacki's, and assorted side dishes. I would then have the smoked butt with some eggs, bacon, and some polish sausage for breakfast the next two days...............
Damn it next time i am in the city I am either going to the white eagle or to old warsaw for dinner

I always thought the butt got smoked after the reception. Then again, I've never been married.

There's a California marriage law joke in there somewhere....

I've never eaten at the White Eagle, despite my Polish grandma formerly living about two blocks away from it. We always went to the Red Apple. :drunken:

I think the restaurant at White Eagle is OK, but the banquet food is horrible.

Red Apple = vomit

Red apple is ok to me. I do like old warsaw on harlem & higgins.
Also years ago Starapolska on Belmont just east of Jade Dragon used to be really really good.
We do have a polish resturant over in Mchenry that I have been wanting to go to. Of course I would really like to find a good polish cook book so I can make some of the more obscure dishes that are not that "americanized".

I think the Red Apple food is good, not the best.

But it's the combo of young, Euro-trash hostesses and the "entertainment" that used to be there, consisting of a guy playing a Casio and and guy playing a violin.

Good stuff!

I know who you're talking about. I'm just not a huge fan of Polish buffets. Once that stuff loses some of its heat, it gets brick hard in a hurry.

My one Old Warsaw experience was a negative one as well. I guess I just haven't had too much luck with Polish restaurants.

My church - St. Sylvester - had their 100th anniversary party at White Eagle last year. My wife was out of town so I took her sister who has a lame boring husband who didn't want to go and we got loaded. But no, nothing happened. And yes, I did think about it hundreds of times that night...and since!

Smart man. I don't believe you but I understand why you have to state it this way.
