Post subject: | Mike Golic and Tim Grunhard |
When I played football for my grammar school (circa 1997), Mike Golic stopped by to watch practice for a week. Our head coach was Golic's father-in-law. At the time, Golic was playing for the Eagles. Anyways, after running 'gassers', Golic told me that he liked my hustle. ![]() He seemed like a nice guy, but then again, i was 13. __________________________ in the summer of 1993, i was at summer football practice at st. laurence. tim grunhard, a st. laurence, notre dame national champ, and kansas city chief stopped by. he watched us do the drill where we side-stepped over tackling dummies. well, my foot caught on one of them and hurt my ankle. grunhard then said to me, "shake it off". i immediately wanted to perform for him. i continued hobbling through drills for next few minutes, but couldn't continue. so, grunhard picked me up like a sack of potatoes and carried me to the trainer's room. it turns out i broke my ankle. i THINK i hurt it even more by playing on it after grunhard encouraged me to suck it up. |

I don't doubt he's a nice guy, he's one of the only ESPN "experts" that's not over-the-top too screamy. It's his bland, arbitrary, and which way is the wind blowing commentary that grates me. |
