Went to the NU - Illini game Saturday with my college buddy who has season tix. He's nice enough to drag me along to a couple games every year. We get to the seats and couple seats over are Coach and Mrs. Fitz and what looks like a recruit. Shortly after the game started the empty seat between my buddy and Mrs. Fitz was filled by a female student. We speculated that she might have been serving in some sort of hostess capacity for the recruit after the game.
(Euphemism? Nah.)

Coach is naturally busy talking to the recruit and sending texts during the game. In the 2nd half when NU started to come back, he leaned over and high fived us after a couple good plays. After a timeout DJ Richardson had a brain fart and dribbled away the remainder of the shot clock. Following the Illini turnover Fitz turns to us and says "That was an ACT possession. If he had an ACT score he would have known how much time was on the shot clock."

Classy.

He's still upset over Illinois telling him he wasn't good enough for them.

For as popular as Fitzgerald is now I have a feeling that people will eventually grow tired of his "We're Northwestern and we're better than you because we are smart and good at football" act.

Don't know what would drive him to make a comment like that in public.

Not as upset as Illinois became.

You should have told him it looked more like a Dion Lee possession.

Kids just had a babysitter who is going to U of M. She said that she visted Northwestern but didn't like it. I asked her "why?".

She said she wanted to go to a good academic school that also won football games.

She said, because you went there.

BR: I'm sure some will tire of it eventually, but I don't think it's an act. For better or worse he's an uber rah rah guy that bleeds purple. As long as he continues a reasonable amount of winning, plenty of folks will tolerate it.

NSJ: I assume the babysitter enrolled at UM before Rich-Rod showed up.

Probably. He would have been a solid backup for Rice, Hardy, and Holocek.

Funny.

He would have also been behind Dana Howard.

You're right. He'd have been a solid backup for them as well.
