I tried to post this last week, I guess the hackers did their damage before I had a chance to hit "submit". I think this was around 1995 or so. A friend and I went to a Baskin-Robbins in the city near his apartment one night and while we were waiting for our order, in walks Chris Zorich. It took a few seconds for me to recognize him, he was dressed kind of sloppily, and was wearing a pair of worn out looking construction boots with duct tape wrapped around of them, I assume to cover up a hole. I happened to be wearing a Bears sweatshirt, and I unzipped my jacket a little to show him the "Chicago Bears" written on it and he smiled and gave me a thumbs up. I then nodded towards my friend who was a few feet away at the counter and said "He says you suck, and that you're faking your injury because you don't want to play and just want to collect a fat paycheck." He said "Oh, really..." and took a few steps towards my friend who was like "What? Huh? Um...wait, I didn't...uh" and then Zorich started laughing. He seemed like a pretty cool guy. I guess he lived around there since it was a neighboorhood place and he walked in there. |

I have a lot of respect for Zorich. I have seen him around Chicago many times. He is fairly unassuming but that happens a lot when you were an average player who has been out of the league for close to 10 years. |

I met Zorro at the Barnes & Noble in Mishawaka several years ago. Friendly enough. This was before his legal problems began. He had the right attitude for ND: Get the jersey numbers of the opponent's players who are trash-talking and administer justice on the field. |

I used to run into him a couple of days a week near Loyola's Water Tower Campus. Chatted a number of times with him. He was very down to earth. |

You should have tried to put a Bears jersey with a number in the 50's on him. |

You know he really was an ok player and tried hard. It is not his fault that Ditka and the stupid local ND fanatics tried to make him a legend. |

A young Drop In's favorite player in HS was Chris Zorich. I got to interview him wearing a Zorich jersey. I was stumbling through the interview like some Score update people. Past and present. He said "I have a question for you, what size is this jersey?" He rolled up the left, which revealed an arm that was considerably smaller at the time. At least compared to the right. Couldn't have been a better guy, and hung out afterwards. Participated in one of the Turkey Drive deals, and I'd do it again. |

Zorich tried to pick-up Girlfriend Pre-Mrs. Dr. Ken at the Harold Washington library back in the day. I think that was back when he was studying for law school. I always found that amusing. |

In one of his years at Notre Dame, a story mentioned that the staff had to sew 2 pairs of shorts together, as nothing in stock for practice would fit those thighs. The South Bend Tribune had a large photo featuring Zorro, and my uncle had been scrapbooking ND Football for years so he clipped it. The problem though was that it was my dad's copy of The Tribune and he had wanted the Cubs boxscore on the other side -- so he blasted my uncle for clipping out the piece with Zorich in "his little pants!" lol |

I haven't seen him in a long time, but I used to be half-ass friends with him. I worked his Turkey Drive a couple times. If I remember correctly, I picked up the stuff at a warehouse around Milwaukee and Grand. The last time, one of the places I delivered to, the people were just fucking rude. And I don't doubt they were on hard times, but they had two new TVs in the house (both of them playing at the same time) and a Canondale bike that was nicer than anything I've ever ridden. It kind of made me reevaluate what we consider "poor" in the U.S. When you go to a game with him in South Bend, it's like walking in with King Tut. Once we were sitting in his seats, fucking awesome, right near mid-field, and a kid behind us handed him an S.I. from 1988 with him on the cover for an autograph. I couldn't figure out why the kid had the magazine at the game. I went to several games with Chris and we never sat in the same place twice. I think he's divorced now, but his wife was fucking hot. She had a sister who I think was an identical twin. She was hot too. Also, no fucking way he was trying to steal from his foundation. |

I was standing in line at a KFC (I think) on Arlington Ht.s Road & Dundee a long time ago. I look down and discovered the little man in front of me was Chris Zorich. This was during his playing days. I was just stunned on how small he was,but I'm sure he had muscle. |

Q.Bovifs wrote: I was in the same bar exam study class with him. Basically shot the shit with him on break pretty much every day for a whole summer. Really nice guy. He didn't smoke, but he would step outside with the smokers just to hang out. Wikipedia says that he is 6'1", BTW. I would say that he is at least 6 feet. I'm 6 ft. and pretty sure I wasn't 6'5 when I was standing next to him. He is 5'8 to 5'9 at best. |

I'd say 6 feet is generous for Chris. Why didn't you help him pass the bar, Panther? |

Dr. Ken, Maybe we can stand Zorich next to George Foreman to see who is taller? |

He had good attendance and seemed to be paying attention. Some people just aren't good at taking exams, I guess. I think his extreme width and his shaven head make him appear shorter than he actually is. Like I said before, check the picture I linked. The average human head is about 8.6 inches in length (see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/61/HeadAnthropometry.JPG), and he appears to be about half a head shorter than the 6-5 Dent. I know the guy. I'm 5'9" and he's only a little taller than I am. |

I know for a fact that the orange-faced guy leaning into this shot is exactly 6'0" and devilishly handsome. Given that George is standing straight up, I'd give him 6'0" at best. |
