I was retrieving my personal effects after going through the metal detector at the Daley Center when I heard a familiar voice right next to me. I looked over and there was Jeff Tweedy in a beat up pinstriped suit and scuffed up shoes. He was telling his lawyer that he seemed to have misplaced his keys. I wondered why he was there. Would he get "dressed up" to fight a traffic ticket? Was he still beefing with the Estate of Jay Bennett? I have to admit the man has achieved the perfect level of fame. He can get a blowjob from any 25 year old broad in FitzGerald's whenever he wants but nobody but a nut like me recognizes him at the Daley Center.

Thats pretty much all to take from that terrible movie they made.

Partied with him numerous times in the 90's. Just the click of people I hung out with, working at some bars, going to DePaul, after parties kind of stuff. No doubt he was playing too cool for the room rockstar, but was always nice to me, because I think he thought I played hoops at DePaul because I would walk in with some players so he was always really nice. Even with that, I dont notice him

Lounge Ax! You could roll a stick at your table and smoke it while seeing an Uncle T show and nobody would kick you out. Ahhh the good ole days.

I'd imagine so. Bennett (or at least his estate) has a pretty good claim to royalties from pretty much every Wilco record from Being There to the one after Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Bennett didn't work on AM or the albums after YHF, but there are songs on subsequent-to-YHF albums that were holdovers from the Bennett era.

When's the last time you were at Fitzgerald's--do people under 30 ever go there anymore? Friendly Tap down the street from there does shows now. Some chick from American Idol used to play there before the renovation, which destroyed what was once a very chill bar. Kinda how Tuman's lost whatever charm it once head after it was renovated by the Mac's guys.

Summerteeth is Jay's legacy. I'm not a big fan of the post-Bennett/Coomer Wilco. I'd rather just listen to Big Star's Sister Lovers.

Yeah, I'd say you're right about all of that. But I'm sure you can find a few 25 year old babes in there on a given night even though I do regard it as the kind of place where aging Boomers demand chairs to watch Alejandro Escovedo.

The old Tuman's was the best, wasn't it? Great jukebox! The only speakers were a shitty box that you'd put in the trunk of a car. I had a speaker company at the time and I always meant to donate a pair of decent ones just so I could hear the music when I went in there.

I was there twice in the last two weeks. Most of the crowd was easily under 30.

I have never heard of this famous person you speak of. Is that really his last name or a nickname?

Andy Laux helped bigfan pull some tail back in the day.

He's not nearly as famous as he thinks he is.
