New here, but long time visitor. My brush with fame is that last year Mike Brown was in my childbirth preperation class. I remember dreading taking this class ever since the day my wife uttered the phrase "I think we should really take a baby class together for the birth of our new son" and before I could even say "huh" she said "too late, I've already signed up" So the day comes and I remember seeing this guy with his wife walk out of his Hummer towards the building and here's me acting me like a little school girl saying to my wife "Holy Crap, that's Mike Brown" The weird thing is I even had a Bears sweatshirt on that night and with God as my witness almost even wore my Mike Brown road jeresey - now that would have been creepy. No one else in the class knew who he was and I of course nugged my wife to take the empty table next to him and his wife. Nice guy, I talked to him a few times during breaks about some Bears stuff. Never got the nerve to ask him for an autograph since the guy was there with his wife in a class about childbirth - didn't think it was right. Wish I did now looking back. Hope he and his lovely wife Erin had a healthy baby as my wife and I did. Go Bears!

For you youngsters out there, sign up for the one day course rather than the 2 half day ones. Better to have one day ruined than two and you spend less total time.

Amen to that. Also, be prepared to remember absolutely nothing from the class at crunch time!

I'm 28 years old and even the thought of any of that still scares the living crap out of me. Too bad I married older (34) so I'm getting the full court press now. Kids scare me.

Hawkeye, it's all good. I'm 33 and Charlie was our first. The class wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (Mike Brown aside) Best advice the teacher gave me was during labor just keep your mouth shut (i.e. don't give your wife and her hormones and reason to yell even more)

Now Charlie is going on 15 months and I just taught him to do Touchdown with his arms in anticipation of a Packer Shalacking on Opening Day.

My friend, please trust me on this. Having kids will be the greatest thing you will ever do. Ever.

It also is the hardest job you will ever have. Ever!

My son was 6 weeks premature. We had signed up for the class and my wife wound up giving birth ont he day of our class. We got into the delivery room and the nurse said "Just remember what they told you in the class." We told her we didn't have it yet and she gave us a rundown in about 5 minutes of what we really needed to know (which turned out to be mostly common sense stuff).

Needless to say, we won't be taking the class for #2 either.

Some how women were able to give birth at the beginning of time all the way through the 19th century. These classes were invented by liberal, man hating lesbians to make money and make it out to be tougher then what it is.

Only semi true. They also teach you infant CPR. I have never had to use the CPR but I have used the heimlich techniques on several occasions. On the other hand there are several estrogen laced sections of the course.
