Had an "appearance" at the Bass Pro Shop in Gurnee today. I'm not sure if it was official or not, but him and some other dude were sitting on a bench with a bunch of hunting stuff looking like he wanted someone to talk to him (sort of like pro wrestling's Virgil). He complimented my dog. |

Did he end the appearance with an ancient Chinese proverb? |

No idea. I was looking for a turkey caller, and I happened to walk past where he was sitting. Chus' picture is pretty spot on to the scene. |

Boyd is exaggerating. Its not a Virgil situation. He's a local fisherman, not a guy who wrestled on PPV's I mean do we expect him to be mobbed? |

Either I missed the crowd, or he doesn't know dick. spmack wrote: Boyd, did you ask him about Steve Sarley? No. |

Why would there be a crowd for something like that ever? Thats why the Virgil thing is off. Pro wrestlers draw crowds. Local fisherman dont. |

Yes, I know all about Virgil and the deadspin coverage. Im saying an lonely Chaunce is not equal to a lonely Virgil At best, Id expect maybe a max of 3 people to talk to any fisherman about anything, whereas wrestlers regularly draw mobs of crowds. |

Wait, the Chaunce is a real person? I thought he was just a character on the message board who antagonized Steve Sarley, like how Carrie or Juggs would bother OKC. |

Yes, very much so. The songs or one liners at the end of every post were an homage to Chauncey ending his show with a proverb every week. And Chaunce was born because I asked Sarley if Chauncey was his competition and he scoffed saying he was in many more markets. |

I sampled his program a few times since I like to fish. Chauncey's show is/was awful. Not sure if it is still on. Might be one of the worst to ever regularly air in this city. |

I used to wake up early on saturdays because im up early for work and I was stuck with Chauncey until The Chicago Sports Exchange (aka The Breaking Bad of sports radio) came on. |

I replaced him on CLTV and did the show for four-plus years with Dawn Mitchell, Steve Kashul and Lou Canellis. I got to meet many local and national athletes and media people. It was quite cool. I also did the Friday night Sports Roundtable a number of times, including once with Matt Abattacola and Carmen DeFalco. |

Seacrest wrote: Sarley, Whatever became of Chip Porter? Chip built a salmon boat by hand and charters out of Kenosha. He keeps a pretty low profile these days. He won the Bob Uecker charity tournament the last two years it was held before Bob discontinued it. It was a pretty prestigious tournament. Chip Porter, of course, was the co-host (along with Mike Norris and/or Dan McNeill) back in the day, when The Score had a Saturday morning outdoor show. |

I did not know der Schnore had an outdoors show. When was this? Early 90s? They should get another one. I need a place to call and debate Louie Spray's muskie record hoaxes. |
