For all of you "new" hockey fans, he played for the Hawks once upon a time.

You're being generous.

Averaged 22 goals a year for them while he played . He wasn't a bad player, hurt a lot and maybe a little soft but a pretty decent 2nd line winger. Sullivan , Nylander , and him were a pretty good line offensively.

His jersey number 55 was briefly displayed during that weird video tribute they had a few nights ago. He apparently still lives in the area and enjoys spending time with his family.

He's a more talented Bryan Bickell and there's no shortage of love for him.

I remember watching the All-Star game when he won MVP honors and his prize was a Ram truck I think. The MVP was voted after the 2nd period so the deserving winner I believe Khabi went flawless 20-20 in the 3rd got robbed. Fucking ass backward NHL

He had a really bad back and wasn't 1/10 as tough as Bickell.

Along with the original Theo.

He still plays every week with Steve Maltais, Brian Noonan and others at the Edge.

can you give any context on where/why you saw him? i remember him mostly because he was on the hawks in the NHL 96 video game I used to play.

He had some great moments as a Blackhawk. That said, he was labeled as soft, whether or not he deserved it, and his back was a problem. Too bad he didn't play in this era.

He would have been good now you are right. Fans mistakenly wanted him to be like Secord was or something dues to his size.

Dude was a legit 6'6" and had a cro-magnon quality about him. It wasn't meant to be. Andre the Giant had just as good of a chance.

He was not good. The fact he was one of the Hawks best players for years is a terrible, terrible comment about this organization at the time. Those Hawks teams were loaded.............with lots of guys that had no business being in the NHL.

 Its bad that a 4 time 30 goal scorer during the dead puck era was one of your best players? You're a hard guy to impress. He wasn't great but you're acting like he was Ryan Vandenbussche or Jim Cummins .

Good job naming a couple of bums.

Somebody had to score, I guess it was him. The "best" players on bad teams are often.......still bad in the grand scheme of things. Sometimes they even have decent stats! He was bad.

Easily impressed I guess. You're acting like he was Teemu Selanne or Brett Hull.

Phil Kessel scored 37 this year and has been Toronto's best player for years........

Look where that got them.

Not sure what this means, either.

28 guys scored more goals than Daze in 00-01 when he got 33.
Including his teammate Sullivan.

So Phil Kessel is a bad player in your eyes?

Here Ill keep it simple. If you think Eric Daze was a bad player, you're wrong.

He's a decent player on a terrible team....year after year after year.
And he doesn't have a bad back.

So...by your own standards, he was the 2nd best player on his regular line - and they were a terrible team....and I'm the one that is wrong?

That's a different animal. He's one of the guys that had no business being on an NHL team that I was talking about earlier. The Hawks loved those guys back then.
