My fastball tops out at 71 but it has a lot of downward movement.

He was really good for your Brewers, Hawger.

I'd be slightly surprised if Bernstein could even hit my fastball 50 feet past the infield.

No way he touches the 52 MPH slider. Nasty stuff.

Throw the first one under his chin and you own the outer half. Maybe throw another one in there for fun.

Yeah, I remember he was good, but damn his numbers were amazing.

Trout was only 19 when he was first called up. C'mon man.

So based on that every player has the ceiling of Mike Trout. Call Jared Mitchell's ass up NOW!

C'mon man yourself.

A ceiling is a "realistic" projection.

There is no realistic projection that Jackson will be as good as a guy who is LITERALLY playing as well as Mickey fucking Mantle

The most optimistic projections of Jackson at this point have him as an average to slightly above average MLB player

Can it be judged by his bounty of strikeouts in the minors?

Last year, when Mike Trout was playing for the Angels, what were you saying about his ceiling? He was not very good, was he? Was it suddenly impossible for him to be good after having a bad start to his MLB career? How about Rizzo after last season?

Yes, I was. Trout has been touted since he was drafted as a phenom. And you can look at my comments on the Rizzo trade. Both have higher ceilings.

immessedup17 wrote:
Brett Jackson's career cannot be judged by his first 3 MLB games. His tool set still gives him a realistic ceiling to hit over .300 and slug .850 with 30 SB's.

I doubt he'll slug 850

Those are not Mike Trout's numbers

Trout has 36 steals in 4 months. He's hitting above 340 and his OPS is fucking over 1

Nobody is saying Trout will continue at quite this pace.

To expect Brett Jackson to put up numbers anywhere near Trout's current level for more than a handful of games is insane.

So when you made your original comparison, you werent talking about ACTUAL Mike Trout. You were talking about the future Mike Trout that will tail off in your mind?

Doesnt matter. No one expects Jackson to ever be in Trout's league.

Trout has all plus skills. Jackson has none. He is good, not great, at a bunch of things.

I guess we'll see

Here are his numbers "before July this year";

AB G H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP RBI SB CS AVG OP% SLG OPS
May 108 21 35 6 2 5 16 11 1 28 8 2 .324 .385 .556 .941
June 113 27 42 7 1 3 16 9 1 22 14 1 .372 .419 .531 .950

So...even if you weren't talking about future Mike Trout, those are numbers Brett Jackson won't come close to this year, with the exception of HRs.

So his ceiling is Mike Trout if Mike Trout became average?

That seems like an overly complicated formula.

I'd like to believe that you are not this dense, but it seems that you are. The ceiling for Brett Jackson does not even come close to approaching Mike Trout's floor at this point.

Brett Jackson doesn't even live in Mike Trout's building.

Does it have a Deluxe apartment in the sky?

Trout's does. Jackson lives with a family in Des Moines.

I think there is a misunderstanding of the term ceiling.

The most likely outcome and common projection for Brett Jackson is: Above average player

The most likely outcome and common projection for Mike Trout is: MVP type

I get sick of pitchers who think their Harry Caray impression is so hilarious.

Nope. The ass who was so concerned about his personal life showed up long enough to impersonate an announcer who died 14 years ago.

Sorry, might to be a Cubs fan; but Cubs fans deserved better from someone they paid so damn much money to over the years. Overrated pitcher who seems more focused on stuff away from the diamond (impressions, the Stanley Cup, Captain America, etc.) that focusing on his job.

Can you win the Cy Young in both Leagues in one season?

2-1

A .667 Win Pct would look pretty good right now on the South Side.

Double Cy Young, here we come.
