A Rich East High School teacher has been placed on administrative leave after a school district investigation into allegations of "inappropriate behavior" with a student who has since graduated, according to a statement released by the district this afternoon.

Rich Township High School District 227 Superintendent Donna Simpson Leak said the district contacted Park Forest police and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Tuesday - one day after a current student told a faculty member the impropriety occurred prior to the alleged victim’s graduation.

"At this time, no formal charges have been filed against the Rich East faculty member involved," Leak said in a prepared statement.

School District Spokesman Nikitta Foston declined to discuss specifics of the incident or the persons involved.

Park Forest Police didn't immediately respond to a phone call. A spokesman for DCFS said the department was unable to respond to questions about the incident at this time.

The teacher is the second District 227 faculty member to come under scrutiny this week for alleged inappropriate behavior.

On Tuesday, the district school board terminated the employment of Bryan Craig, who had been placed on administrative leave from his job as a guidance counselor at Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields. Crag had authored a controversial book about women and sex. Craig previously coached girls basketball.

In her statement, Leak said, "At District 227, our number one priority is, and always will be, the welfare, safety and education of our students. If warranted by the results of these investigations, the district will not hesitate to take appropriate disciplinary action, including dismissal."

I'm not sure how bad it is now, but it wasn't that bad back when I graduated. I did walk past a kid laying in a pool of his own blood one time when he was beaten by a few other guys with his own wooden brush.

Graduated from Rich East in 2004. It was pretty bad, and the town of Park Forest (where my parents still live) just keeps getting worse.

My grandparents still live out there. I used to think they lived on a quiet street until one day I saw the police running across their yard in attempt to raid the house next door that was a known drug house.
