My wife works way more than I do. Unfortunately she doesn't get paid for it.
Of course stay at home moms do a majority of the parenting. If the roles were reversed, you'd be doing a majority of the parenting.

But she would still work harder than I would.

You will see. Women have tougher expectations to meet. A mother is a mother. They are different from fathers. The first day she leaves for work from maternity leave, she will be hysterical. The first day a father goes back to work after a birth, he is relieved to be back at work.

I personally can't say I agree with that, but it is to each their own.

At least in my age group, it's pretty common for women to do this. Of course they miss the kid, but pregnancies are now "planned" to coincide with how it will coincide with work. Another co-worker's wife just did it.

Good thing for Republicans that Mexicans are stupid and would not vote for the best candidate.

Rubio isn't Mexican and the hispanic vote isn't monolithic.

Very good GD. So the idea that 90% of Latinos would vote for Rubio is idiotic.

Yes I would say this. My wife and I share fixing meals depending on her work schedule. I do all the laundry, she does all the dishes and cleaning. All of our kids are past the age of night feedings and such, but I did my fair share of that and changed a TON of diapers.

Yes.
Yes.

Nowadays a lot of fathers are doing more to help out but you're right most women carry the parenting load. Even when both parents are working.

Is the black vote monolithic? After all there might have been half-whites like Obama or Haitians or others they didn't vote for Obama?

There are more powerful women in politics and business than ever. Clinton, Rice and Fiorina to name a few. The idea of inequality for women is a bit off really. The movements and corrections in this or race even take generations to work through and get to a so called result. If they made a proclamation mandating some equality in 1985 would there have been enough women with MBA's or law degrees to instantly make a change right then? o I think it takes time to work out.

One thing I think men clearly have on men is that they have options. To quote Steve Martin in Parenthood, "Women have options, Men have responsibilities."

Women represent about 16% of Congress. 3.6% of Fortune 500 CEOs. I guess that's progress.

Don't think that I believe an equal fair shot is not for women or anyone else is not a good thing...

You would have to factor in how many women want those jobs and will do what it takes to not only get them but do them. I know a few brilliant men that are CEO's of very successful companies I have been involved in. One is an Ivy League MBA the other a PHd/MBA, they both worked 24/7 until their companies "made it". Then I saw them 15-hours a day and as they were globally doing time zones there was no distinction of what day of the week it was. They are both on wife number 2 and have no idea what their kids now grown were like.

Are you sure 50% of the women in this country want to do that? I am not. They may want a marriage and if they had kids I feel a female has a connection that may preclude deserting them. Hell I would bet you that there aren't even close to 50% of men in this country that would do that. I wouldn't.

So tell me how to get 50% women CEOs in this country? Seriously.

Small sample size of probably one of the hardest things in the whole country to break through. Even then, those numbers will change greatly in the next 20 years because of the increased education and access that women have.

The whole workplace has shifted. It hasn't trickled up to the top quite yet, but it's close.

Wait 20 years or so and it will probably be 30% at least.

CEO is the last bastion of the workplace that will be dominated by men, primarily because it's the most senior level of employee and there used to be great inequality among the whole workforce. Now, women are better educated than men, better workers, and will be making more than men on average in the next 15 years. However, I doubt anyone will put up signs about salary inequality then.

I largely agree with you. I believe men and women are different. I also believe society expects women to be more active parents such that working 15 hours a day as a mother in unacceptable.

Society views that man poorly though. There are a lot of terms for that with negative connotations like workaholic.

Societies issues are seldom easily solved by just looking at the numbers as they are complex. Unfortunately, political slogans and their designers don't care.

Yes, this is expected.

This is why it won't be expected in 15 years.

The more women you have working, and in lower and middle management, the more will be in upper management in 20 years.
