That movie is so good.

No actor has been more himself than Keaton there.

Perfect.

Remember that guard for roosevelt, brickhouse?
He averaged 30 points a game.

And, if you'll recall, I was our best defensive player.

Anyway, the coach puts three other guys on him.
He rotates these other three. He doesn't put me on. The last quarter, down five, these guys have all fouled out, and brickhouse has 25-30 points or something ridiculous.

Now, coach pulls me aside, looks me in the eye and says, "now's the time.
He's yours, take him." So I took him. Remember what he scored
in the fourth quarter? Nothing. Zip. Zilch.

We might as well shut this section down if "others do it too" is a reason to not care about it. Virtually every post made in this section would qualify for that.

True. But keep in mind the "sellers" of flood insurance is actually the good ol' U. S. of A. government.

Toyota didn't have to do squat to help, but they did. I actually think it was a good idea.

I agree with BRick. But then, I find advertising in general to be distasteful.

Did I accidentally type this thread in Spanish?

This response literally has nothing to do with what I nominated them for.

You know what. Strike that. I am changing my nomination since most people don't seem to grasp it anyways. I am upset that Toyota is giving people who lost cars in Hurricane Sandy $1,000 off a car. I wish Toyota would price gouge them and charge them $10,000 more. Toyota is the worst company in the world for the sole reason that they are giving people cheaper cars. That's it. I think it's incredibly mean for Toyota to offer an extra $1,000 rebate.

You guys are welcome. Your denials of my nomination actually make sense now.

I find it hard to believe that everyone who posts here save you and I actually believes the $1000 rebate is an effort to "help".

Imagine how much "help" they will offer at the end of the model year.

Wrong. Of course it is not an effort to help. It is an effort to blunt negative traffic and sales, which I find nothing wrong with.

When did "We wanted to make more money" become a universal excuse for a company?

The overriding philosophy of most people seems to be "if something is legal, it's okay." That's how we have a generation of people who never think of abortion as murder and will argue vehemently that it isn't. They share a philosophy with the Sandi Duncan character in Roots.

I think abortion is murder, but im okay with it too. What does that make me? Anyone arguing that is isn't murder is just lying to themselves.

See you in 5-10 pages.

Okay, IMU, but don't you see the hypocrisy in a society that rewards a "doctor" for killing something one day but severely punishes a woman for throwing that same thing in an alley a day later?

Rewards isn't the word to use, and we both know it. Abortion is still looked on in a negative light, even with the folks that support a mother's right to choose it.

I think "reward" is the correct word. These are people who make a lot of money and are generally respected members of society. Of course, nobody is going to mention exactly what they do for a living at the country club dinner party but that can be said for many professions.

On the other hand, we have a poor young woman who may not have known exactly what to do and in her panic took care of her "problem" on her own. This woman is judged harshly by the same society that drank and guffawed with that "doctor" the previous evening.

FYI, for Boiler Rick

Textbook Advertising 101

What Is the Purpose of Advertising a Product?

Advertising promotes products and services that businesses are tying to sell. However, this is not the sole purpose of advertising. In addition to promoting a product or service, advertising serves multiple functions for the company and brand. These functions help companies achieve the ultimate goal: selling their products or services.

The most obvious purpose of advertising a product is informing. Through advertising, established businesses can announce new and existing products or services they are trying to sell to the public. Likewise, a new company can use advertising to inform the public about its business. Advertising is a strategy used to grab the attention of potential customers. Advertisements use language and communication techniques that appeal to consumers.

I should. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get injured in a terrorist attack and Toyota will offer me a free upgrade to leather seats.
