Defense sucked? Nah

No, they sucked. Joseph Addai looked like Earl Campbell combined with Walter Payton.

Also, the defense let up a TD to Reggie Wayne where no one was within 20 yards of him.

Grossman wasnt good, but the defense was just as much to blame.

They were gassed, the offense gave up 5 turnovers. So 29 points total, minus 7 from Rex is 22 points which ain't bad considering 5 offensive turnovers. They held colts to field goals on a couple of those turnovers...I hang it all on lovie/Rex.

No blame left for Daniel Manning and Benson?

You're right, Benson fumble was huge n Manning had poor game.

I was a Benson fan then. That sucked. Plus, it seems plausible that he faked or at least exaggerated his injury.

Was never a Benson fan, hated drafting a back so high n I firmly believe he milked injury.
If you score a special teams td you should win game. The only way you could lose is 5 turnovers, if Norton started second half I think bears win.

Yeah drafting a high running back didn't work out so well when the Bears took Rashaan Salaam also

What about Curtis Enis?

You have to remember that when they drafted Benson Thomas Jones was doing just fine as the running back.

Jones averaged 4 yards a carry and almost 1,000 yards in 14 games the year before the Bears drafted Benson. He had 56 catches for 427 yards at 7.6 yards per catch. There was no reason to draft another back.

#LittleKnownFact: Running backs are immortals. The only way you can get them off the field is to behead them a la a highlander, which is what the NFL collectively tried doing to Peyton Manning.

Ricky Williams first couple years were comparable to Thomas Jones without as many catches.

MINI! You are WRONG!

Thomas Jones first 5 years in the league he didnt have a 1,000 yard season. The Bears took a chance on him and he had his best season ever with 948 yards! Thus they drafted Cedric Benson. So despite the cries of 'Thomas Jones was Good'. He wasn't Good. He best years were all Post Benson.

From stories I have heard and many variations made public, he was a complete dick to Cedric Benson. Which was pretty shitty for a #7 overall pick that didnt produce either in his first 4 years in AZ and was released.

But I digress..

Rickey Williams had over 1000 yards in his 2-5 seasons in the NFL, with almost twice as many carries as well over that time. Ricky Williams was a one man gang and Thomas Jones was a punk in AZ.

When you offer up $$$ for guys on your own team to knock out a player, you're an asshole.

I am not saying that Benson didnt need to be knocked down a notch, but they did it at the expense of the team.

I didn't expect my throwaway pothead joke to lead to a serious break down of Thomas Jones' career by Mini Ditka and BigFan, but that's the interwebz for you.

I was not comparing Jones' first two years to Williams' first two years. I was comparing Williams' first two years to Jones' time with the Bears.

2000 runs for 1000 yards in 10 games for an average of 4.0 yards per carry 44 catches for 409 yards 9.3 yards per catch

Yeah, shitty to put a bounty on a team mate but Benson came in with a bad tude. I remember him saying something like I don't need friends on this team its just a job or something in training camp. I'm sure he was a diva with a shitty attitude from day one.

For as bad as he was with the Bears, Benson did have 3 great seasons for Cincinnati.

He had 10 Touchdowns his rookie year

Pretty decent year for the chance he was given

I can't remember a time when a form of the word liberal was used in a sentence that referenced Mini Ditka.
