It would appear that I find myself with considerably less incentive - aside from rote habit leading me there on occasion - to consume The Score in its entirety.

If it's not poorly thought-out opinoins to flat out fiat-like proclamations I'm generally at a loss for anything that remotely resembles interesting or entertaining radio.

To be sure, all good things must come to an end, but this end is being artificially hastened by a complete lack of good sense from far too many sources, a number of them that should definitely know better and either have succumbed to personal hubris or professional apathy.

It's too bad ... for everyone ... doubly so because it really shouldn't be as such.

(PS - keep the 'listen to ESPN' crap out of here .... they don't have anything remotely like what I'm looking for, which they never had in the first place)

I give them half a douchebag. Maybe just the nozzle part. They are too complacent. Could be so much more fun.

The problem with the Score is that everyone wants to be the smartest guy in room. "It's not cool unless I say it is".

That being said, radio talk in a other cities is awful.

Each show has a major flaw.

Mully is just a complete ass and is unlikeable.

Meat, pretty much ditto.

Berns has jumped the shark and is a caricature of his old self.

I hated Bob Collins with a passion. I thought he was a 3 dollar bill phony. It was interesting when he died,I don't remember a lot of "miss him" quotes from WGN.

It's weird, I really don't listen anymore. I'm consuming a lot of podcasts and Sirius/Stern. And with the ability to FF through commercials, trying to sit through the commercials while listening to sports radio live is unbearable. And none of the sports radio shows have enough interesting content to make me regularly check in on their podcasts.

The only time I really listen to any sports radio these days is if someone on here posts something that sounds really interesting (recently, the Boston/Meatpants debacle).

My sports radio obsession has completely died.

Exactly. Thus is why I was really Hoping that Mitch would take the WGN radio position and a new PD would make the tough decisions that need to be made to improve WSCR and to once again be the voice of the fan.

On Monday I had lunch at the Third Rail and Drinky was there doing scoreboard updates. There was one other non-Score employee patron at the place.

At the entrance there was some 670 paraphernalia including a huge stack of photos of Drinky and 5 Sharpie pens for autographs.

Yes, albeit much less than 5 years ago.

I once posted 575 times in one evening regarding sports talk radio so I decided to cut back a bit.

I'm glad to say that my only knowledge of him is from Steve & Garry ripping him. He sounded like a country bumpkin asshat.

I used to listen up until the point the station went off the air every night but even in those days I wouldn't listen to whatever shit the score offered in the morning

This has definitely been one of the shittier weeks. They bungled the Blackhawks thing pretty badly, IMHO. I understand hockey's the red headed bastard child of sports in Chicago, but the immediate reaction of their biggest show was "Hope you guys are happy, because I don't give a fuck." The fucking Heat's title got more fanfare.

Once again the term 'Personality" is not the focus, it's the way you talk up to the mic, how you professionally conduct an interview, your journalistic skills, blah blah blah,

Ironic, the classically trained guys, like a Skip Bayless try amazingly hard to seem like they are nutty, raw, meatball real fans that attend games.

One other issue is the lack of younger guys they have and the way those guys talk to and connect with an athlete.

I dont care if the 2 minute update guy has a beer after a game with the player, coach, etc. I dont give a shit about journalistic integrity from these guys.

Also ironic is the guys that are influenced the most by the teams are the beat writers.

Bottom line, the Score needs some new blood, that is NOT Danny B Approved.

I thought it was just me. I fired the Score for good about a year ago but I tuned in for a second during B+B the day after the Hawks won the Cup and I heard talk about Jim Belushi.

Enough Said. Thanks for the memories.

It doesnt help that our best team is the fifth team in town. The best player in town is a quitter. Baseball is dead and the Bears may finish last in the North.
