Eh ... I've know a handful of real asswipe jerkoffs that got taken down by cancer .... it's not just Bambi-eyed urchins .... plus it sells a lot of wigs, so it's a job-creator, and in this economic downturn, a break is a break.

I do not find Jimmy V's speech moving. I did like the part about family, religion, and the Green Bay packers, but the rest is okay.

Was he a huge cheat?

ESPN is ok with Jesus too as long as they can monetize whoever is bringing him up.

Public service announcements are still free though.

Massive. Which is why I cannot stomach any mention of (St.) Jimmy V or this bullshit week honoring his hollow and chickenshit legacy. Imo you can take Jimmy V and all of this kiss the ribbon garbage and shove it up the ass of each and every executive at Disney/ESPN. (and this coming from a guy with a mom who is a cancer survivor)

That bastard was worse than Tarkanian on so many levels. At least the Shark occasionally cared about his kids.

The first line was from a speech he quoted that was originally given by Vince Lombardi.

something always struck me as off about jimmy v. i always thought of it as self serving to play that goddamn speech over and over again...and i would think if he was so great, it wouldn't be *only* ESPN that recognizes him or his foundation.

ESPN does act like Jimmy V was the first person that ever said "don't give up"

They seem to now be calling it a famous speech. If ESPN didn't play the clip over and over again no one would care at all.

If Winston Churchill's brother had a radio show on E.S.P.N., Winston Churchill's speeches before and during the Battle of Britain would be considered as famous as Jim Valvano's speech.

You are safe.

TM and Dolphin won't drive that far by themselves. And BMc is afraid of you.
