Chicago has always been a town of gullible yokels who dimwttingly believe against their own better judgment. Look no further than the ludicrous odds every Chicago team gets out of Vegas every year. I want to think this is merely a symptom of Cubs fandom, and to an extent I'm right, but White Sox fans seem to have caught the disease. Delusion runs deep in this town.

Either way, maybe both these teams make the playoffs this year. Maybe only one of them does. Maybe neither do. But neither should be favorites to win shit.

Again, for the record, I hate Cubs fans. But John Lackey was an All Star at one point and he's won at least two WS rings. (Three?) He's been a 1 or 2 everywhere. The other two, if they just .500 from here on out, the Cubs will take it. They also have Arrieta and Lester. Whether Arrieta is slipping or not, I don't know (it doesn't seem like it to me), but I'd love to have him.

C'mon. Its always the extremes with both sides of town. The Sox were probably not as good as their start was, but they are not as bad as they have played over the last week either. This could be the lowest point of the Sox season, we'll see. Even the 2005 club lost 7 games in a row and was 6 games under .500 in August of that year.

The Cubs are not a perfect team either, as they will not finish the season with a .700 winning percentage. They are a pretty good team who probably will need some pitching help at the trade deadline.

No team in MLB is perfect. The very best and elite teams in baseball (usually) still lose 60+ games a season, which is more than 1/3 of their games.
