Because he could not beat sorry ass John Groce last night, Groce is going to remain as Illini coach. Illini Basketball: Irrelevant Since 2004-2005.

FU, Tom Izzo! Douchebag.

Izzo did not play last night. His team lost. How is it his fault? Did he coach them to lose on purpose? John Groce has actually done a hell of a job considering the hand he was dealt coming to Illinois. Iowa fan speaking here by the way.

If this loss keeps Groce at Illinois this should be a shoutout for Izzo

 I think Groce has done a good job though. He will get another gig in five minutes if fired at Illinois albeit not a top job.

What are you talking about? He has been a complete disaster. It's been embarrassing how bad he's been until the last 5 games. This is his fifth season. The only NCAA he made was his first season with Weber's players.

He sucks.

He sucks.

Look at the shit pile he was left when he took over. He had to rebuild it. What Bruce Weber left was not his doing. Building a solid program takes at least 3-4 years especially at a bottom feeder like Illinois.

He's at year 5 and is worse than Weber ever was.

Scooter sounds like a moron in this thread. 5 years isn't enough time to rebuild a program!

Weber's big season was coaching Self's players to a NCAA championship game
Groce's big season was coaching Weber's players to an NCCA tournament

The trend says we will be longingly looking back at that time the next coach and his team of Groce recruits made a spirited run through the NIT.

I'd take Groce over Weber, if they fire Groce it will be a lateral move .he's a decent coach.

Groce's got a 5-star recruit coming in, right?

Gotta be the Illini's first one of those, in any sport, in a long as time.

Illlinois supposedly has a top ten class nationally coming in next year. Means very little but that is all he has to hang his hat on right now.
