Doing it all in the first year is more aggressive than most new owners but the plan is pretty much the same. Even the Ricketts raised ticket prices in year one, though I'm sure people will point out that they waited two years to tank.
MLB has built the game to do this exact thing. Jeter is 100% right to do it. Anyone complaining about his tactics sounds like the same people(including me) who were wrong about Theo intentionally tanking.
I am not complaining about his tactics. I don't care what he does. I'm laughing at his audacity to think he can make them profitable by thinking he can kill the team AND increase revenue all in one offseason. They were getting White Sox attendance. Now, they will be lucky to hit TB levels.
The Cubs were still able to sell the baseball/Wrigley experience to get solid attendance even if they sucked ass. Marlins do not have that luxury. Their new stadium sucks and no one cares to see it.
