What is the record for the most games out of first at the All-Star break? 40 games?

Detroit might have buried some team in 1984 when they tore off that hot start but...40 games?

That organization is a mess. It will be interesting to see how they handle the trade deadline and if they’re able to get value for their players or if they trade them at all. I hear they have a committee of 5 people making the decisions. That’s never a good idea.

Not every team is lucky enough to have a Theo type at the helm .

The Earl Weaver Orioles were my second favorite team behind the Cubs. Angelos ruined it, although i still do like watching games when both Gary Thorne and Jim Palmer are in the booth.

Peter Angelos is this generation's Dollar Bill Wirtz. Sadly, his kids are not of the level of Rocky Wirtz, and they have fucking steroid poster boy Brady Anderson above Dan Duquette.

I should not rip on Anderson so much, as I got him as a $1 fifth outfielder in a long-term Compuserve keeper league the spring he started juicing. But fuck him and his shriveled testicles.

That's a faulty comparison. Wirtz was the ultimate hardliner against the union, and Angelos was the only owner who vowed not to use scabs (the Blue Jays weren't allowed to due to Ontario labor laws) out of respect to labor.

They are/were both really shitty owners, and the only way the teams will improve is their death.

With Machado, Britton, Jones and perhaps Cobb, they can make trades that could restock the farm system fairly well. But it's going to be a while before they will be good again. I agree, it will be very interesting.

Jim Hendry was the GM during the 2003 Cubs trip to the NLCS, but that team was put together by Andy MacPhail. Despite the legendary choke job....it was a pretty damn good roster.
