Sports is a metaphor for life. If that ball goes 2 inches to the right, Cody Parkey is a hero and everyone is forgiving him for the season's mistakes. Maybe the Bears go on to win it all.

Instead, he becomes one of the most hated men in Chicago history, and the Bears just become another first round out who will be forgotten.

Sports are crazy. It's not enough just to be the best team with the best coach or the most talent. There has to be a convergence of a ton of things to win a championship. You have to be a good team AND it has to be the right time AND you have to have a lot of bounces go your way. This time, the Bears missed by 2 inches.

It almost makes me want to not root for teams anymore due to the very low odds that my team will end the season with a victory, even if they are the best team... but I think getting older allows you to compartmentalize it more and move on more quickly. She also gives perspective on what is truly devastating in life.

Still sucks, though.
