Hopefully the extra game means the season will start Labor Day weekend now.

I think they want the season to end later so I'm guessing the extra game gets tacked on at the end of the schedule. I heard someone say today that they want to push the Super Bowl back to the Sunday before President's Day to truly make it a three day weekend. This helps them get closer to that. That shortens the time between the SB, the combine, free agency, the draft, OTA's, reporting to camp, the pre-season, and then kick-off.

Year round sport. ltg is going to be pissed about all the extra out of town football talk during the NBA season. But that's what the NFL wants.

How many adults get President’s Day off?

Most state and federal workers. Plus kids are typically off already.

Yeah I get that. But in the scheme of things it’s not worth changing NFL scheduling over.

I think a team that goes 13-3 and has to play WC weekend is stupid. Granted, it would have been nice to have the Packers play an extra game and not get a Powder Puff opponent on their bye like this past season, but thats only a once in a while situation.

How is the league going to work the home and away schedules? One year 9 homes games, the next year 9 road games? Neutral site games? Silly.

Are they going to start the season at the same time? If so, that pushes the Super Bowl back to mid-Feb. The other option is to have NFL games played in late August and Labor Day weekend. Again, silly IMO.

Also, this potentially opens things up to more 8-8 or 7-9 teams making the playoffs. And eventually a 7-9 team will reach/win the Super Bowl.

I do like shortening the preseason. They could probably even go to two games in August.
Why would having the Super Bowl in mid-February bother you? Hell, it’s one less week between the NFL and Spring Training.

I agree. Super Bowl is in early february now. What the hell does it matter if it's in mid february? Why would you give a shit? It's just a date in a shitty cold month. Doesn't matter when it happens.

It would be nice to have some pressure to get President's Day off again.

It seemed like a more important holiday when it was specific to Lincoln or Washington. The term “Presidents” has lost all panache.

Oh I agree. It's racist to say, but it's beyond strange to me to act like Martin Luther King is more important than Washington, Lincoln, and really all Presidents combined. But that's where we are at now. Caller Bob will bitch while making some fried rice joke, but fuck him.

So does this mean Houston will start the WC weekend at 11:30 Saturday morning?

Nobody should be mad about this.

Usually in the last week of the season we have 2 or 3 teams are fighting for the 6th seed Wild card birth.

So if we have a 7th seed, it's no big deal. They are basically as deserving as the 6th seed.

It gives us more playoff games on wild card weekend.

Don't b.itch about this. It's good.

Yep. Anything to get them eliminated sooner.

Bummer. Some of my favorite memories as a kid were Labor Day weekend games. I remember going to the bar at 21 to watch the Sunday night game because I had Monday off.

And fuck the NBA.

just move the super bowl to a Saturday if you want the next day off. Two weeks of preparation are too much to handle (like how I worked all three versions in).

The real question is that if the SB is moved to Saturday, will your sister still throw her lame party with underwhelming food on Saturday as well?

So if you make more than 4.25 million, you have to take a per game pay cut to play the 17th game. Players should tell them to get fucked for now. Owners need a deal now for negotiations with netowrks. At the very least get an opt out after new tv deal goes into effect.
