Well, I was late with my Name that Tune questions this week and I'm late with the Douchebag of the week. Hey I'm on vacation, and I ain't getting up at 8 am for anything less than a 3 alarm fire.
I was thinking of retiring the Douchebag of the Week poll when I say BigFan in the Suggestions section say that there's too many polls so I figured, fuck it, let's add to his poll misery.
People who say "I hate wakes": Frank Coztansa, one of my stand-ins when I was unavailable to host DOTW, attended a wake this week where someone invariably said "I hate wakes". Now, I have been to a wake where everyone tells you what a bastard the wakee was, that was bad, but is is bad when people say that they hate wakes? Since I'm one of the people that can't understand why we need to display the deceased, I am one of the people you'll be voting for when you select this option.
Ludacris: Dikaia nominates the rap star for his song trashing McCain and Hillary. Personally, I thnk "Move bitch" would have been a perfect way for Luda to celebrate Obama knocking off Cliton, but alas, he needs to create new material. I'll say that I was a fan of Luda back in the day, and this new material just wasn't.... any good. Is Ludacris exercising his right to free speech? Is he doing so appropriately? Is he hurting his candidate? And does all this make him a douchebag? I'll leave it to the genius minds of the CSFMB.
Minor League Hockey Player RFDC nominates David Cornacchia for DOTW for the act of smacking around a stewardess and flashing his penis at some passengers.
BigFan appears to have tolerated this behavior, and Frank Coztansa believes it's simple fee retaliation. So, does smacking a Stew make you a douchebag?
People who moan about living on the West Side:
My Coach Vinny's neighborhood sports shootings, ex-cons, halfway houses, prostitution and break ins. Is he mad as hell about that? No, he's mad at the people who complain about it. That's right, those investors and carpetbaggers are douchebags for coming to community meetings and shouting that they find such conditions unacceptable. So tell me folks, is he right? Paul Konerko: Frank Coztansa puts Paulie on the poll this week with his nomination for not hitting, failing in the clutch, and playing shoddy defense, which I understand is not a good thing in the Majors. So, is he just slumping? Is he hurt? Is he disappointing this season, and biggest question of all, is he a douchebag for all these things?
God/Heaven Pointers and thankers: Mr. Belvidere has had enough of people and their silly religious beliefs. Public displays of religious gratitude is completely uncalled for and should be douchebagged immediately. W_Z noted that the God pointer doesn't thank God for a shitty inning, and Seacrest notes that everyone has a right to express an opinion, so they represent both sides of the debate. Meatball Fans: kerchungathunk is a Cubs fan but one that does not advocate gang beating a Sox fan and putting out his eye. While this is unacceptable behavior, kerchung proves beyond a doubt that he's never been with a couple other Cubs fans and Frank Coztansa for any length of time. This was one of the more solid nominations this week so I expect it to get both the douchebag vote and the Anti-Cubsfan vote.
Bastards Who Shot Up My Hood with Paintball Guns: Crystal Lake Hoffy got hit with some high veolcity balls and he's pretty pissed. Little bastards damaged the neighborhood by paintballing all over Crystal Lake. This type of childish behavior is clearly douchebaggy but even more douchebaggy is the cop who said "They were shooting at houses while I was driving right behind them." How many houses exactly did you allow them to damage before you decided to stop them? Me? if I vote here I might be voting for that cop.
