Yeah it does feel like the shots went on forever. How lucky is that kid that turned the corner right as the shooter was going into the classrooms. Looked like he was headed to possibly one of those rooms.

What I see in this is that the most of the fault lies in the person or persons in charge of the immediate decisions made in this situation. I don't really blame the subordinates who responded unless they ignored an order to attack or were cowardly. It is clear to me that the situation might have resulted in less lives taken if an experienced tactical leader would have arrived right away and did an assessment of what the situation required and gave ordered to take the shooter out quickly. That did not happen until after a lot of lives were already lost. I think that happened finally when a second group of police came onto the scene and the lead guy took charge of the scene.

Its interesting to read or listen to these macho guys talk about being bad asses in combat situations. Reality is different. Some of the most macho looking or talking guys I've seen become cowards and run when actually having to fight.
