What an asshole.
Let me set this up.
Top of the third during the Dodgers Cubs game 1
Arietta is interviewed by buck.
During the interview a fly ball to left center... Jake says "oh... we got a guy there"
Buck, being the asshole he is... says "his name is dexter fowler"

i know i've said that i hate how joe buck "presides" over the NFL on the Fox NFL Sunday Game of the Week(TM) countless times on here. for those who haven't caught it, basically i completely loathe that mentality like "ok you've heard all the NFL stories going on this week, now here i am to tell you the definitive take on them" like he's had time to ponder "what it is" and now he's here to tell you what the "correct" thoughts to have were. sanctimonious prick!

the other thing that i truly loathe about the dude was hugely obvious tonight: whenever you're in a "big" pressure-packed moment in a baseball game you can tell that this dude it just DYING to have some sort of a "legendary call" of a "historic moment in baseball history." when migmon hit the granny tonight i forget what he said, but i remember him tryharding it up all trying to say something imminently memorable along the lines of his dad saying "GO CRAZY FOLKS! GO CRAZY!"

in the end you end up realizing that he figures he's as a big a part of "the moment" as anything so he's going to always go out of his way to make sure that whenever you see some bigtime OMFG!!! highlight for the rest of your life that it's forever associated with joe fucking buck.... and this is a guy who just copped to a hairplug addiction FFS. if you think i even have any sort of fucking idea how that works then you're an idiot who clearly doesn't know me very well (or a clever person who hasn't wasted too much (if any?) time on my drivel over the years =)

TLDR = FUCK JOE BUCK. i guarantee the dude has a tiny wang cuz you know he's trying to compensate for something with his whole smarmy/smug/condescending/arrogant/presiding-over aura when he calls games, and then there's the whole "look at him and remember that this guy KNOWS he's kind of really a PRETTY FUCKING BIG DEAL and =] when you realize that there's no way that god let this guy go past 5.5" with any sort of meaningful girth >=)

I think I would take Buck over Ron Darling. I CAN NOT stand his accent. He is like a gay mob boss.

Vito was a Captain at that point, and it was the weight loss! He told Tony he could get a note from his doctor...

I've long thought he was reminiscent of one Rudy Giuliani ... so, basically the same thing then.

I'll never get the hate for this guy...not sure who else I would rather have calling these games but whatever.

Watched the replay of the Montero slam...his call was exactly what I would have wanted.

You're going to split hairs over whether or not Vito was a boss?

He had people that worked under him (HEY HEY!). He was a low level boss.

He brought up Bartman after Rizzo couldn't snag the foul pop up. Automatic DB.

Never really noticed Buck before the bitching on here. I'll have to keep a closer look on his antics.

I flipped on Killing Me Softly on IFC and it was the scene with Gandolfini and Pitt and I thought the exact thing. I looked forward to that every Sunday.

You're a baseball fan and can't come up with announcers from around the major leagues who seem to love the game?

By my count, four of Bob Uecker's understudies are full-time play-by-play guys around the league: Cory Provus with the Twins, Jim Powell with the Braves, Joe Block with the Pirates, and of course Pat Hughes with the Cubs. That's a better tree than Bernstein's, I know that much.

I'm sure the egos of the 'main' guys would take a hit, but I'd like to see, similar to how there's always the Spanish feed on a different audio channel, the ability to switch over to 'your' team's home call ... same game, same channel, same commercials, just a choice of announcers. In this day and age I can't imagine it's too terribly technologically taxing.

I've said it before but I'm shocked there isn't an alternate feed that simply gives you the ballpark noise. The PA announcer, the vendors, the crack of the bat, etc.
