When I remember to bring a lunch to work, it's always a sandwich.

I ate the same meal every day for 3 months of my life. It was called Basic Training and it fucking sucked. You loony tunes doing this voluntarily should be committed.

Every breakfast was Spongebob eggs, grits, toast, and the weakest two slices of bacon you'll ever see in your life.

Iirc lunch and dinner had a very little bit of variety although it was always Meat/Starch/Vegetable meals

I could eat peanut butter(now Sunbutter) on buttered toast or english muffin every morning until the day I die. Sometimes with grape jelly, never strawberry.

George : I got your calzones Mr. Steinbrenner.

Mr. Steinbrenner : Beautiful. I am starving George.

George : I thought tomorrow maybe we'd try a little corn beef.

Mr. Steinbrenner : Corn beef. I don't think so. It is a little fatty.

George : How about Chinese?

Mr. Steinbrenner : Uhhhhh. No. Too many containers. Big mess , big mess.

Too sloppy. I want to stick with the calzones from Pisano's. That's the ticket.

George : I just thought it would be nice. A little variety.

Mr. Steinbrenner : No , no , no. George let me tell you something. When I find something I like I stick with it . From 1973 to 1982 I ate the exact same lunch everyday. Turkey chili in a bowl made out of bread. Bread bowl George. First you eat the chili then you eat the bowl . There's nothing more satisfying than looking down after lunch and seeing nothing but a table.

Even for breakfast I don't like to double up on same exact meals often, but I get it. Having the same meal everyday for lunch years on end seems like something only a truly insane person would do.

Not eating every day doesn't count as a meal Bob.

I've tried doing it, and for the most part can't do it. I need variety. The only exception is breakfast, where if I let myself I'd eat a McDonald's Steak Bagel w/out egg or a Bojangles Cajun Filet Biscuit every morning, depending on what city I'm in.

If I had to eat one thing every day, PB&J would probably be the choice. Plus work is like prison anyway, so who fucking cares. I eat at my desk while I work. No pleasure there.

For dinner I insist on variety. If there must be leftovers, it is not allowed to be served the day after initial preparation.

Couple martinis. I could have that evey day of my life.

Definitely a Hatchet vibe there

Quote:
But I am probably overthinking this. Ultimately, I am partial to Vern Loomis’s analysis of what prompted his co-workers to poke fun at his peanut-butter sandwich: “Maybe [they did so] just out of good humor, or maybe guilt that they’re not eating as healthy—that they’re eating a greasy burger or something—or going out and spending $15 for a lunch when mine only cost 80 cents.”

“Jealousy,” he concluded. “I think it’s jealousy.”

Consider yourself lucky you weren't born and raised in Norway or you'd be eating matpakke every day, known as "the world's most boring lunch."

Some people meal prep as a way to lock themselves into a diet. They create a huge portion of a single meal, then break it up into enough dishes to last a week/month/whatever.

I bring my lunch to work just about every day, and 90% of the time its a sandwich with a yogurt, a few cookies, and a granola bar or a banana. Now of course I'll get different kinds of lunch meat and bread, different flavors of yogurt, etc, but still my lunches are very similar very day. Doesn't bother me one bit.

I would posit that if you are having different meat and cheese combos in the sandwich, and different types of yogurt, you aren't eating the same meal every day.

It's borderline for sure, but I'll allow it. You're (barely) not a psychopath.

I try to do that when i'm at home for longer stretches. Buy some groceries on Thursday night after work, make something on Saturday afternoon, and eat it once a day for three or maybe four days. I try and load up on vegetables so it has a good amount of bulk for 400-450 calories a meal.

But then I won't make that item again for at least a month, sometimes three or four months.

At KFC, I'll go through the trash and grab the bones... go home, throw that in a pot, add some broth and a couple potatoes, and baby, I got a stew going!

I am back in a role where I go into the office a couple days a week. I hadn't done that for a few years. All these people talk about, think about, and dream about is food days. It appears as though it might be their only sense of joy. Pot lucks, birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, demotions, canker sores, Fridays, Tuesdays, election day, Earth day, workdays, weekends, you name it.

As such, I can usually scavenge something for free and without having to leave the office for the day. Decent variety, too.

I desperately want to work at a place where they throw an office party for a demotion. I'd never quit that job.

Some of these women would manage to throw a party if someone announced they had a terminable illness.

I started eating a bowl of oatmeal every morning a year or so ago. It always will have a teaspoon of honey, some hemp seed, and a liberal amount of cinnamon. I switch the fruit around a bit: blueberries, strawberries, banana, or apple.

I worked at a place where they brought in bagels and variety of cream cheeses every Wednesday morning, and you were supposed to put a $1 in a jar if you wanted one. This was very, very popular. However, our CFO noticed that the jar was coming up light every week and eventually stopped the process one week. This was the least productive day in the history of the company... nobody was working; they were all complaining about not having their bagels. People were more upset about this than they were about layoffs. I think maybe it lasted two weeks, but they started picking up the bagels on Wednesdays again to satisfy the masses.
