Super woke when it comes to American politics, but support democracy in China and the league will force you to apologize

I dont know does it count as "American values" if they are flying the British colonial flag in their parliament?

Mainland Chinese are Caller Bobs and nobody likes them. I think that's got way more to do with it than all this demcoracy mumbo-jumbo.

Too bad the NBA (and Disney) is too busy trying to suck them off.

You can just expand on this and say China is antagonistic to world peace and this whole "peaceful rise" myth really just came about because everyone gave them exactly what they wanted for the better part of three decades. Now they are meeting even the slightest resistance and going full authoritarian military bully.

If anyone thinks this is going away depending on who is American president or whatever has another thing coming. The China problem and finding a way to stop them without incurring nuclear war is what will define the 2020's.

Corporate wokeness always ends the moment it costs someone money. The NBA is beneath contempt for this.

I wonder how the league reacts the next time where is a game in China and a player opts to kneel during the Chinese anthem.

Kneeling is banned in the NBA.

The NFL is looking for new fans among Australian AFL bogans and drunk, gambling addicted men from the British Isles which definitely requires a lot less endorsement of communist regimes than the NBA's ambitions.

I'm going to guess LeBron won't answer any questions about this when he's in China. He needs Space Jam 2 to get by the Chinese censors

It's gonna be like that Transformers movie where out of nowhere, LeBron declares that it is the responsibility of the Chinese government to protect Hong Kong from the Monstars.

Not on the record they won't. Steve Kerr knows enough about hostile foreign governments as it is.

Self-righteous phonies. Maybe they'll come to grips with the fact that Trump isn't a totalitarian dictator but I'd settle for them just keeping their sanctimonious crap to themselves.

Don't worry, I'm sure the woke league at least tacitly supports BDS along with it's pro Red China stance.

China worried mainland chiners will see their brethren in Hong Kong demanding open and free elections and accountability for law enforcement and the disease of democracy will spread to the mainland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35HbW3u5GQs

Interesting how the only time i ever hear stories about the NBA and its politics is when i read this site.

Only time you can ever get MANY on here to ever discuss it in fact.

Are you suggesting that the NBA and many of its leading voices aren't aggressively political? If they weren't they'd just be a typical corporate money machine like a Hollywood studio rather than the hypocrites they are.

Haha I dont think that's it. You should see the polling of Chinese people on how they feel about Taiwan and HK...this is conquest nothing more nothing less.

typical for people here to beat up on the NBA for [checks notes] blacklisting a general manager who is against mainland China taking over Hong Kong

Who are these "leading voices"? Greg Popovich speaks for himself. Not the NBA.

The NBA embraced China (as the political leaders of this country has) a long time ago. If they had a problem with China, it would have been expressed a long time ago.

Its obvious that they don't. Just like its obvious that the handwringers currently bashing them do not have a problem with countries that commit human rights violations. Or people that support human rights violators.

There have been people in DOD and State Dept. who have wanted an adversarial relationship with China for decades.
