I understand in playoffs you might not have the mercy/slaughter rule but that is fucking ridiculous.

I guess Id have to watch the game to see. I know you cant tell kids not to try but fuck.

I didn't even know there was a 54-2 game.

There is a mercy rule but it's after four innings.

No, Im fine with the ruling. (although I think they should have gone with suspension instead of vacation of titles)

Im just talking about people's motivations.

Check off another problem with the morality is relevant approach.

Not at all.

JRW cheated and got punished accordingly-ish

As I said, Im just discussing people's motivations.

Frankly, Im surprised this never happened before (or more than just Almonte)

Not at all. I don't like kids, don't have any of my own because of that. What I'm saying is cheating is cheating. It's significant in any situation, no matter how big or small.

So I take it your company softball games are on national tv, covered by every media outlet in the USA and the winner gets to go to the White House?

Right but is there a common sense rule?

Im not advocating for participation trophies but that score is absurd.

Like it or not, there is a lot of money spent by parents and I know it is easy to think that is what you may do, but I am not so sure that would be reality.

But that's kind of the point. I've seen you discuss this with other posters. I know that youth sports is something you like and have participated in with your son. I think that's fine and I would never criticize you for that. But when it becomes this thing that is so important that we're conducting inquiries or suing, etc. I think priorities are a bit out of whack.

If you'd have ended that game after two innings the EP coach would have probably complained that his team wasn't given the chance to come back.

I doubt you follow that line of thinking in your life. Some things just aren't that important. Youth sports is one of them even if others treat it like it matters.

Its way more valid than comparing little league to someone's livelihood

Your statement there is essentially saying "This is a big deal and deserves to be treated as such"

I disagree completely. The games shouldnt even be on tv, imo

I don't totally disagree, but if cheating is going on, it just can't be ignored in my opinion. I feel as bad as anybody for the kids, but you have to try and stop if you are the Little League Organization.

I would try to get LoHo to play for the team. Just having his intimidating presence would improve the team.

This is the main problem with something like this.

There's all this money and national exposure involved with this shit, which brings about people trying to cheat the system to gain success.

Let's just all agree to blame ESPN, and end this thread.

Besides that, I wouldn't even call this cheating. It was rule breaking. Nobody was cheated. Those teams got their asses beat on the field fair and square.

I'd tell them that wallpapering a sex cavern for the owner of the company doesn't make you an employee.

How can it be fair and square though when 1 team was using players that weren't supposed to be on said team? For it to be fair and square I would think you shouldn't be using illegal players.

Well, you know enough about the subject to understand that all areas from which the participants come aren't equal in size and number of players. At its worst this is like going a couple miles over the speed limit. RR has explained that these kids have all been in the league for a long time. I'd feel differently if Darold Butler was driving around Chicago Heights and Dyer scouting sandlots for kids to put on his team.

Pretty much. I was on the elliptical at the gym this morning and haven't watched Sportcenter in a long time. Good grief, both anchors rattling off catch-phrases, movie/music references rapid-fire, it was sensory overload. I lasted 5 minutes (w/ Sportscenter).

That is easy to say but my point is that you likely engage in "cheating" pretty often and don't really think much about it.

If all cheating is significant, then you must have a lot of things to be sorry for. For instance, I've jaywalked before, which is against the law, but I didn't find it to be a significant offense. You would have to think my offense was significant.

So Ship is saying he doesn't cheat or he's never cheated? If so I feel comfortable calling him a liar.

That's a good example, because I don't jaywalk (I'm being serious), and I can't stand motherfuckers like you who do.

I never said I was a saint and haven't cheated. But, I can tell you I cheat waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less in my life than most of you scumbags from what it sounds like.
