A South Philadelphia gun shop owner shot and killed a man trying to break into his store early Tuesday morning amid heightened looting concerns.

Philadelphia police said the owner of Firing Line Inc. was staying the night inside the shop on South Front Street because over the last few nights someone had tried breaking in.

The owner told police he was monitoring his surveillance camera and saw three or four men trying to get in around 4:15 a.m. The group was using bolt cutters on the gate. A broken lock could later be seen on the ground.

The group then smashed in the back door and broke glass, police said. When they made it upstairs the 67-year-old owner started shooting his Bushmaster M-4 rifle, striking shot one man in the head, police said

The death of a total stranger is cause for celebration for you?
Why can't it be that I'm celebrating someone defending their life?

The fuck out of here with your concern trolling, anyway, you let Ogie celebrate dead cops ad nauseum on this board. I doubt you even said anything to him about threatening to kill another poster.

It's a serious question. No trolling involved.

And any discussions I have with posters, won't be run past you. first.

You're (mostly) not a complete psychopath like Ogie. I've replied to him enough, and just like BMac there's a point where I'm not wasting keystrokes on it anymore.

I hate to be a kill joy, but the article did not say that he had a pistol.

That man -- who was in his 20s -- died in the store, police said. The other men ran off. Police found a handgun by the dead man that the owner said does not belong to his shop. Investigators believe the burglars brought that with them.

An injured person turned up at Jefferson University Hospital, which investigators said could be connected to this. The person was shot in shoulder.

Also, "they brought that [pistol] with them" sure seems like a curious and rather clumsy way of saying "the looters were armed", doesn't it?

I don’t want to celebrate it, but there is a certain justice in a person defending his property from criminals.

Well there are 134,000 gang members living in Chicago. I would guess that many if not most of them were participating in looting. LTG says that about 20 percent of the population lives in poverty. I don't think they all are looting, but many of them were.

I don't know how many protesters were committing crimes, or how many there were. But we know that out of town agitators were coming in just to fight with the police.

No, I put the legit rioting and looting and destruction on the busloads of specialists who come into town to assimilate into planned protests, start spray painting shit all over, break some windows start some fires blow some shit up then get all up in the cops' faces and antagonize them to help set off aggression in pushing back and/or disseminating crowds, at which points MANY others there who have noble intentions at first don't wanna be the sucker who doesn't get free shit when giant #s of people running around are essentially getting group immunity to loot + pillage cuz at this point every [guess which side?] politician involved doesn't wanna be the one who literally/figuratively "unleashes the dogs" on these giant crowds to try and get them out.

I feel bad because real people are having their grief anxiety fear and etc used by "organized" units I'd agitators who come in and do their damndest to set up any mass gathering of ppl into a looting mob, at which point like I said before you dont wanna be the schmuck out there not getting free Mike's while everyone else is, even tho the first (proverbial) shot was fired by a likely linky white boy in all black with walkie talkies and a wad of cash.

My question is like, when you find a pallet of unwrapped bricks just chilling on a street in downtown/ish Dallas how did they get there? Some true believers say the police themselves help set all this stuff up, but I find that a bit hard to believe. I'd conjecture the pallets of bricks show up via people with a $$$VESTED$$$ interest in having shit kick off as much as possible to, probably, give 5he corpse formerly known as Joe Biden any chance of winning in November simply cuz of the ANYONE BUT ORANGE MAM vote.

But then you lurk your chans + other places and see ppl prattling on about how this next presidential election is THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION EVER (since 5he last one anyways) cuz it's gonna set up the shape of the country for the next 40yrs. Cuz look at everything around you marvel at all the ,$$$ pumping thru city centres and whatnot and remember, the ppl who create/own/maintain that are REALLY controlled by you and your vote for coke or Pepsi in the great and bountiful beverage election. Even tho we need a nice glass of water, health wise, it's like you have no choice but to only pick flavors of soda. Either way you're always gonna drink soda and identify yourself as a field marshall in the coca cola people's army (or an operative in the pepsi generation)

Aren't MANY of these gang membsrs involved in protecting their neighborhood business from outside-the-area looters? You hear about the Latin Kings doing it in pilsen + little village + etc. PLUS don't you figure most decent gang membersake more money off of selling drugs than looting CVS or Target? Methinks you'd wanna take advantage of all the hoopla and sell a lot of drugs at this juncture with the police legit busy elsewhere, but hey what do I know? I almost need to loot my local Ross's dress for less cuz COVIDmania running wild has fucked up my annual work shoes + shorts + shirts + socks purchases, and of course i'm.mad send hurt and my grief needs an outlet, preferably an outlet store!

And btw outside of representing the community / neighborhood / etc don't you think another reason gangs are doing this is so next time they make a quick lil drug exchange by a neighborhood store the owner/s are less likely to call the cops on that remembering who was there when they REALLY needed and the cops were busy protecting downtown + mayor's house (around 75/night I hear) and other high political / capital areas?

The guy was trying to return a gun, but went to the wrong shop at the wrong time and he got killed. Not a pretty picture.

100,000 people looting? That's a stretch but continue to think the worst of the worst about certain segments of society.

Your evidence that he didn't have a pistol is the part of the article that said the looters were armed with the pistol they found, and said pisol was found specifically next to the dead guy? K.
The irony is Seacrest using the patented JLN rebuttal technique. All that's missing is a citation of obscure case law.
No, it's the other three letter poster who gets proven wrong by his own sources.

Nah you're a tadbit slow on the uptick and too obsessed with "winning" to ever see how silly you look trying to discredit sources all the time. Sort of like now for instance

He did. Yet, I still found a way not to express my happiness with a Stone Cold gif.

I hate to be a kill joy, but the article did not say that he had a pistol.

The guy was trying to return a gun, but went to the wrong shop at the wrong time and he got killed. Not a pretty picture.

But what did the autopsy state and which doctor conducted it? Did the family order one or was it the county?

Come on LTG, stop that. Everyone is agreeing with the cop killed him and he should go to jail along with the other three.
The State now is doing the prosecution. His brother is asking for peace, everyone is ignoring him. What is going on is wrong. This country had a chance how ever brief to really come together and do something positive and enact change. And then the dumb asses showed up.

Yea you had police doing the kneeling routine and trying to level with the protesters. It gave way to more rioting and burning. The divide at this point is pretty much calcified.
