Primarily white cops. But there are asshole cops of all colors. Then again, it's been joked that I nevertheless get along with cops given that I too often am an asshole myself.

I've had cops pull guns on me twice, one time walking in the middle of a well lit street in Hyde Park(the sidewalks on both sides had been ripped up) and another time in southern IL with the trooper cracking a joke whilst holding a shotgun with three of the other four cops watching me while the fourth wrote me a time for 71 in a 65 mph zone. I even have been misidentified by arresting officers as "the defendant" in courtroom proceedings where eyewitness evidence was all the state's attorneys had.

Every so often I pass the old police station where Jon Burge & his merry band of drunken asshats ruled & still look up at the electric shock/telephone book room. We (kids) knew it was real then (despite what State's Atty Daley & the media said), just like it's still very real now.

It's an interesting turn this Ferguson story has taken. It seems to have moved from the outrage over the shooting of an unarmed black youth to a criticism of the militarization of the nation's police forces.

While it is good that this is becoming a point of discussion in the nation, it's disappointing (and disappointingly not surprising) that this is the route the narrative is taking.

I think it' has a lot to do with wanting answers. The state and federal government can't make sure there are no small town racist cops. But they can make sure these small town racist cops don't have tanks and are held accountable for their crimes. In this case, nothing seems to be happening, which is justifiably infuriating.
