Interesting. Thanks, Matt.

I wonder if future "enthusiasms" include WGN Radio luring Da Bears away from WBBM when that deal runs out?

I remember when the Beloved was on the WGNs... Glory Days, my friend.

I loved the Bears broadcasts with Jack and Kup. I think that Kup was drunk most of the time and was hilarious.

I started following the Bears right near the end of Joe McConnell's tenure as radio announcer for the Bears (before Larrivee). From the limited snippets I have heard, Joe was very good too. Maybe even better than Larrivee

I've heard highlights of Joe's and sounded like he was good.

I know the Bears interviewed Gary Dolphin from Iowa when Joniak was hired. Gary would have been a good listen. Solid PBP guy without the cheesiness of Joniak.

And I listened to some of yesterday's games on WGN. They were just ok. The only name I recognized was Danny White on the Cowboys game.

I think Joe McConnell worked the middle innings on some of the old channel 44 Sox games floating around (and therefore did the rest of the game on MAQ). Worked solo, kinda dull, big difference from Harry and Jimmy.

WGN picking up the not-quite-official NFL radio package as a way to cheaply fill time is pretty sad. That's like collar-county AM radio stuff.
