Yeah, not sure what Brogue is on about here. Of course Moon wasn't in rhythm with the band--he was Keith Moon, the prototypical crazy drummer. It's just too bad he was carrying around so much baggage, expressed in self-destructive behavior....

I still say that the Who had the worst producers ever. You can barely hear Moon on half the albums. Wish I could have seen them live with Moon.

That would be the one, and Who's Next. Other than that, they held the guy back.

Let me re-phrase.

Moon > Townsend. As a musician, not a songwriter.

Edit: T-Sam, JORR, CH, etc., I am completely open to being wrong here.

Townsend is no different than John Fogerty. The Who wouldn't have existed without him, and CCR pretty much was him. Moon was a nutcase and while he was a fast drummer, his inherent problems are pretty well showcased on late Who live recordings. However, Entwhistle was a great bassist.

Ringo's kid is pretty amazing.

I have said on this board several times I would rather watch Keith Moon play drums than Jimi Hendrix play guitar.

They all played lead...lead guitar, lead drums, lead bass, lead vocals...it was fantastical stuff.

It’s good that you’re open to it because you are .

I think that was his point really. Until they passed he didn’t really experience fully his own spot. It’s really not a big deal. All the boomer bands can about die off any time now anyway. Who, Stones, McCartney etc.

Meh...they've earned the right to rock or not.

They're treasures and they will leave quite a legacy.

Ray Davies included.
