By Bernstein's logic teams should not play the opposing conference since the odds of them facing any of the opposing teams in the playoffs is next to none, unless you are the front runner teams.

I realize that the Bulls have lost 8 of the last 10 games to the Heat in the playoffs, but I have enjoyed watching the Bulls beat the Heat every single game in the regular season. As a fan I appreciate a team that gives maximum effort on a regular basis. Even though the Bulls lost in the playoffs last year I still got 12 playoff games to watch and I enjoyed the Nate Robinson game as much as any game in the playoffs.

I dislike LeBron not because he's not a great player, but because he whines, he flops, he gets star calls, he has to get on a team with 2 other all-stars to win, he showboats and mostly because I know that Noah and the Bulls have more heart than the Heat. It's just that heart, muscle and hustle can only take you so far when playing teams with 3 all stars and scrubs that can hit open threes.

This.

And if ever you want to question this, don't. It's a losing proposition.

No (formerly touted) genius, it's a solely fantasy/stats driven position you're taking and it's wrong on so many levels in the real world. Go back to your mommy's basement, pretend you have special insight into sports and revel in your brazen mediocrity.

The fact that these questions are even raised is why I have zero interest in the NBA. If the guys playing don't care, why the fuck would I?

If neither game mattered, why the fuck are we talking about either of them?

Yeah, that's why I cant get into the regular season.

The playoffs are half a season long. Shorten the regular season to 20 games. Then we'll see who has a migraine.

They should do that with baseball too. Then we'll see who throws out their back with a sneeze.

Im not saying MLB players are tough but with the NBA season not mattering nearly as much, its easier to play it safe with injuries.

Its not a knock on the NBA. I just want to see them play as hard as they can.

Of course not. But he will be in the top 5-6 and has a great chance to make 1st team all NBA. Not bad for fun spaz with no discernible skills.

Contrary to Bernsies opinion, championships are NOT all that matter in sports. What matters is that teams give a good effort & play hard & entertain the fans. When I go to a game or watch a game on TV I'm not thinking about championships, I am engrossed in that particular game. To say that regular season games don't mean anything is just plain stupid. Of course the regular season games matter.
Sports are about entertainment having fun & enjoying yourself. Fans want their team to win every game they play. If a team happens to win a championship, that is a bonus.

So, Scorehead, what do you tell your loser salesman who comes in always saying he gave it a good effort and he tried hard?

"I had a great dinner with that prospect. He told me NO, but we had a blast!"

Maybe he could have closed over dessert, if he had the balls to order it

Once I flew down to Lexington for a business meeting with my mentor. He was this old school business guy. He always made me wear one of those stickers that says "Hello, My Name is..." He would throw back a few Martinis at lunch or maybe a couple bottles of Merlot. He was always pissed when I wouldn't wear a tie. In fact, on this occasion he asked our pilot if he could borrow his tie and he made me put it on. Anyway, we had lunch at Griffin Gate and at the end I went to grab the check. My mentor slapped his hand down over mine and looked at the other two guys and said, "The client always picks up the check." These two guys were pissed. I'm not sure they even had enough money on them to cover it. But we were already out the door grabbing a cab to take us to Blue Grass Airport.

Always love your yarns Jorr but why would the client pick up the check? Isn't that backwards?

Yea, I don't understand that either. I entertain my customers & pick up the tab, whether its dinner, game tickets, drinks, whatever. Sure, I have a few customers & distributors who I am friendly with & they will occasionally buy, but when I am wooing a potential client, or thanking an existing client for their business, I grab the check every time.
