Well, Illinois government must be downsized and budget cuts must happen. Run it like a business.

Pay more to staffers! That's the first step.

What a great sequence of posts.

What do you think the governor makes?

He created a six figure position for the First Ladies executive assistant. That takes up most of the salary right there

Pat Quinn made $177, 412.00 in 2014. Im sure that there are CSFMB members who make more than that.

Yeah, I didn't get that one at all. Hiring a chief of staff for your wife, who has no job? (But she is a Democrat, as we were repeatedly told during the campaign.)

Some do it for that reason.

Some do it out of service for their fellow human being.

The fact is most of the top talent in every industry is in the private sector.

Rauner hires sister of political director

By Associated Press

One of the first hires in Gov. Bruce Rauner's administration is the sister of a top aide.

Emily Clamp has been hired to a $70,000-a-year position with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. She is the sister of Sarah Clamp, who is the governor's director of special projects and was political director for Rauner's campaign.

Rauner spokeswoman Catherine Kelly says Emily Clamp's degree from Cornell University and experience "make her well-suited for the position."

Clamp's hiring in January came days after Rauner was sworn into office and imposed a state government hiring freeze.

Rauner criticized former Gov. Pat Quinn during the campaign for hiring practices while the Democrat was in office, including hiring people based on their political connections.

That's because they would like to bust the unions too but are more than happy to let Rauner take the fall on this.

If she has experience she does not list it on LinkedIn. All it shows is a 2011 BS in Environmental Engineering and some post-graduate work at Georgetown.

High-level staffers lock in publicly funded pensions/health care for life almost immediately and they often get well-paid jobs when they rotate back to the private sector.

Or Rauner knows that it allows him to burnish his anti-union bona fides without actually impacting anything. Like when they passed a pension reform bill that was obviously unconstitutional.

-- Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner stopped at the Union County Republican Headquarters to lob criticisms at his opponent and tout his plan to rejuvenate the state.

Referencing a federal judge's decision Wednesday to appoint a monitor to oversee hiring practices at the Illinois Department of Transportation, Rauner accused Quinn of illegal patronage and vowed to end the practice.

"I've been calling for a federal hiring monitor to come in for months," Rauner said. "I will bring in a federal hiring monitor and make sure they stay, but I'm going to rip the patronage system out at its roots. I want to give veterans preference for these jobs, not Pat Quinn's cronies."

Quinn had been accused in April by a Chicago attorney of using political considerations in lieu of job qualifications in filling positions at IDOT.

"He's been caught," Rauner said. "Illegal patronage hiring has doubled under Pat Quinn over Rod Blagojevich."

Referring to himself as a business man who understands how to recruit companies and build businesses, he said "Pat Quinn doesn't know anything about business or the economy."

"I'm going to get the regulations down on businesses," Rauner said. "I'm going to get the taxes down on business, and I'm going to recruit companies to come in here, especially Southern Illinois where there's so much opportunity."

Anybody who has paid attention does. He worked in the private sector for many years before he was governor of Texas. It's a perfect example of a wealthy business man entering politics. The sort of thing that gives Scorehead a chubby.
