in the current climate, where people have lost their jobs over "poor attempts at humor", they can't expect to not get backlash of some kind. you're digging your own hole and then wondering why no one's there to pick up the shovel and dig you out.

this is where the fragility of social media has led us. for those who want to make a joke, they literally have no idea how to because context is so absent in these situations; but if you staunchly and militantly go after someone for a joke, but then try to crack one yourself...you can't help but come off as a hypocrite.

the point is...it's not absurd these days for that question to be asked *in total seriousness* on someone's podcast, or what have you. it should be...but i've seen the crazy.
