You're doing fat jokes now?

THIS is an under-rated post!

I'm old enough to remember when JORR strongly frowned upon anything on this topic.

I think there's a big difference between arbitrarily poking fun at the way someone looks and mocking the most powerful man in the state who is purposely keeping people out of work while his wife and daughter are show jumping in Florida and he obviously has never missed a meal. You're welcome to disagree of course.

Not really ... it's a very lazy effort by someone trying to say something when they have nothing to actually say.

I don't care about the fat part ... I fly over Macy's NY Parade every November. I'm offput by the zero-effort attempt masquerading as clever or funny.

Not really. You can Google and see it. We're not trending downward but we're also not losing people like New York.

I'm still taking issue with the way numbers are being reported. I feel like it is in the local governments' best interests to keep making the numbers look high.

I fully own that I'm in the camp of "start opening shit back up in stages and let the people that want to stay the fuck home stay home". I respect the position of people who are more susceptible to the worst parts of this, but just because they're old, or immuno-compromised, or asthmatic, or diabetic, or whathaveyou, everyone else should not be punished.

I still believe that the media is driving the government's fear mongering agenda. And there are MANY who will believe whatever their shithead elected officials tell them...out of fear. MANY of these same people aren't worried about where the money for their rent, or mortgage, or grocery bill are coming from, though...and they have zero respect for the people who are. That's what really pisses me off.

Were we waiting for the peak, a leveled period at the top, the downturn, farther down the slope, or all the way at the bottom before beginning to open things up?

Which will never be an accurate number.
- There is zero data identifying when it started
- There is zero data collecting cases that have come and gone.
- The number of tests being performed has increased which means the number of diagnosis is going to increase
- Evidence has clearly shown deaths are false being categorized as caused by COVID-19
- There is blatant false data provided by China and other countries

Everything about the data being used violates basic principals of statistics.

I'm in the same camp, but I don't think it's going to be that simple now. Liability issues will keep some businesses from opening. In addition to that, the fear MANY have will keep a lot of businesses from thriving.

Politicians and the media have done a number on all of us. The damage is essentially done. Naturally, they will try to reverse it soon but that won't work.

It was originally to "Flatten the Curve" but that mantra has changed drastically over the past few weeks.

Threw a temper tantrum after the Bradley Bourbonnais graduation Story.

https://www.newstrib.com/2020/04/30/bre ... s/axoegeb/

The Illinois State Board of Education has banned all in-person, drive-through or smaller-group graduation ceremonies indefinitely as school districts statewide scramble to determine how to honor graduation seniors in the Class of 2020.

"The directive extends to drive-through graduation ceremonies or events where students come in small groups to the school or another location for a photo or to walk across a stage," an email from ISBE Thursday reads. "The governor's extended stay-at-home order prohibits group gatherings."

This is probably the best and most accurately stated post on this Virus pandemic. This entire thing got blown out of proportion by the wrong data initially being used and you are absolutely correct about the other weaknesses. Statistics are very valuable tools but as you know all of the pretty graphs and charts are not worth sheets of toilet paper if the data is wrong.

Great summary of what has been done. :!: :!: :!: 8) 8) 8)

Nobody even says "flatten the curve" anymore. Now that it's flat, that's all forgotten.

This is the kind of thing that is dangerous and will have people lining up outside offices with guns. Don't blame the people protesting. There is no safety issue involved. It's strictly a matter of flexing muscle and exercising power. When something bad happens, put the blame where it belongs.

There were people warning of government overreach long before all this. But they got mocked, “They’re taking away our freedoms.”. Remember, if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear.

So then Pritzker is going to stop his daily press conferences which could easily be classified as a group gathering? He could do an online conference, where reporters lob him their softball questions via Zoom, Skype, or some other electronic program.

Seriously, how is a drive thru diploma ceremony any different than a drive thru at a fast food joint?

I would really like to have a graduation but I understand not wanting to put 1,000 people together in a place.

Ignatius is proposing an August graduation with other tentative dates at Thanksgiving and Christmas. At some point, doesn't the actual graduation become passe, especially once you have already spent a semester in college.

The part that really gets me is they are insisting on attaching some form of prom to the graduation. That has to be something pushed by some mom's at the school with nothing better to do with their time. What kid is going to do all the things associated with prom if it is held as you are about to leave for college? These mom's are dogged in their desire to get a picture of their daughter before prom

This is an example of how many mini Stalins and Maos there are in government today. And I think a test of what is in our future when the Dems order gun confiscation. This has become a situation when mayors and governors are totally ordering things that are certainly no constitutional, especially their actions against churches and synagogues.

We haven't gone above the high of April 24th. I would argue that it's flat.

Which was supposed to be the peak before Pritzker decided he wanted to stay locked down longer and found some new models.

:!: :!: :!: 8) 8) 8)

that motherfucking Fat Fuck had the nerve to twist the statistics to say that the county of the Rep suing the govt the other day is the deadliest county in the state. NOBODY noticed him saying that, NOBODY questioned it, even though it's pure bullshit.

The worst part is Chicagoans believe it when he says it.

My kids high school announced they are hoping to have some kind of graduation ceremony in July. At the same time they completely cancelled prom. The facebook moms are going crazy about there being no prom.
