If the check was really for training and diet tips, so what? The payment being innocuous doesn't raise reasonable doubt if the brothers are prepared to testify that he put them up to the attack.

It would be much more damning if you could tie a payment to the attack, but it is very true that we already know they were previously associated, so it isn't a surprise there were previous financial transactions either.

There is a potential problem if the police state that the check is payment for the attack and it turns out that it isn't. It's also a problem if the two brothers state that it was payment for the attack while making a statement to police and then changes their story for the grand jury.

This isn't about being a "Jussie sympathizer" either. It's about thinking like a logical person. If he skates this would be something that causes him to skate.

I'd never heard the training angle til today so it's a little Disingenuous to suggest that "it has already been reported".

Apparently nothing pertaining to the letter has been decided either. Johnson spoke as if he knew for certain that Smollett wrote the letter. Feds say nothing has been decided regarding that.

This is not proof the attack wasn't staged, but in a trial, all the defense has to do is create reasonable doubt, and we're told the Police Superintendent's pronouncement will become a defense weapon if the case goes to trial.

The Police Superintendent also said during the news conference Jussie himself sent the racist letter 8 days before the attack. Federal law enforcement sources tell us they have not concluded who wrote the letter ... at least not yet.
