There’s a small amount of irony contrasting some big corporate sponsor’s Paralympics advert with this story.

The ad is all about recognizing mental hurdles, overcoming them and confronting physical obstacles (e.g., paralysis, no hands, etc.). You know, traditional stuff.

This lady is celebrated for getting the twisties and being brave or something. Honestly I’m not sure anymore. Classic culture war battle…

celebrating her quitting is fucking stupid. showing support and feeling sad for her would be a respectable response. this whole "omg shes so brave for quitting" is fucking retarded.

Gymnastics seemingly was terrible for her mental health.

So the answer was to return back to gymnastics when she easily could have retired and done anything she wanted.

I don’t think there’s a huge market for people who quit in the middle of stressful situations

Sometimes things you love can have a negative impact on your life. Taking a step back so you can overcome those struggles isn't a terrible thing. Most of us are fortunate that we don't have to deal with the public embarrassment or scrutiny while working through issues.

A Champion of Mental Health

Beyond her athletic prowess, Simone Biles has become an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness. Her decision to withdraw from certain events during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics showcased her courage in prioritizing her well-being over external pressures. By doing so, she sparked a global conversation about the importance of mental health, particularly in high-stress, high-performance environments.

This nomination needs to be thrown out as her husband is a member of the Green Bay Packers and there shall be no hating on Packers families.

I thought 26 was too old for gymnast but apparently 90+ can still do it https://youtu.be/sRX39WY4rgQ

Outspoken advocate for mental health awareness.

“I’d like to talk about mental health.”

“Whoa, whoa, who are you, a conspiracy theorist?!?”
