I'm not in favor of killing cops in general. It probably even would have been a bad idea in this case. But i think it certainly would have been more understandable if one of these citizens who was being attacked shot and killed a cop than it was for Wilson to shoot and kill Michael Brown. When nobody is serving justice and the ones who are supposed to are systematically discriminating and oppressing you, there's not a whole lot of options left. And simply because Darren Wilson is a cop he is literally allowed to get away with murder. And it happens all over the country all the time.

Are the guys in Ferguson acting as a community police force or an occupying army? There is a clear difference. I don't think a community police officer should wake up every morning expecting that he might die that day. But a soldier in a military operation should be prepared for the possibility.

I just read an article about all of the military gear that the feds are giving/selling very cheaply to municipalities. A town- I think in New Hampshire- was offered one of those assault vehicles and they turned it down because "that's not who we are". Good for them.

Mrs Scorehead and I dropped Scorehead junior off at College and are in St. Louis visiting friends that we made when we lived here in the late '80's & early '90's. We are glad that we don't live here anymore.

Kudos to this state representative for introducing a bill to disallow municipalities from taking them.

Keene is where the Free State Project guys are based out of. They had a big hand in that.

I said that last weekend and iirc was somewhat quietly shouted down (e.g., he's not that bad).

Man I'm tired of being right.

As I intimated, it was none too incisive; it was four words, and two of them were "my". It was a dopey, reactionary post to seemingly purposeful ignorance. Whooptie-do, it happens 100 times a day around here.

Now, back to our regular programming.

If we can find a actual, factual positive in all of this, it's the (hopefully continued) rise of Mr. Antonio French who seems brave enough and level-headed enough and without any inappropriate 'agenda' to be a real fucking mensch going forward.

"State of Emergency" declared in Ferguson by governor Nixon ... 12am-5am curfew ... Police are establishing a media staging area to get press credentials and allow them in/out access of the 'emergency zone'.
