i don't really think Chicago cops care about speeders , it's the burbs where you have to watch your every step

Carol Stream is one of the worst.

They used to set up a speed trap on North Ave, just east of County Farm Rd. An unmarked car would be on the side of the road, with it's hood up. The cop would hide in front of the car with the radar gun, while the cops sat in a parking lot down the street, waiting for the call on the radio.

Add to this people on a four lane road who stop in the left lane to let a car coming from the other direction turn left in front of them. Fucked never realize that cars in the second lane to the right can't see the car they are attempting to let turn. Happened to me twice today.

fucking idiots....today...not once...not twice...three times on my commute I came up on a car driving slowly in the left lane. Other cars, including me work to navigate around them...then once traffic clears the fuck-stick(s) then decide to move to the right despite having AMPLE opportunities to do so before. The highway I was driving was NOT icy...no reason for this shit. OK...I feel better now.

They and the people who drive 5 to 10 mph under the speed limit and then gun it through the intersection as the light changes.

Oh the I am going through a yellow with bumper to bumper in front of me and stop cross traffic guy is worse.

It wouldn't take much to get em loose... Nudge their left or right rear bumper... Would be satisfying for a split second before realizing you won't be driving again for a long time

Also not a fan of people who sit in the right lane at traffic lights blocking others behind from turning right on red. Especially if they make no effort to give you a crease to get around them. I always try to get over to left lane if the light is just changing so I am not that person.

anytime someone in front of me hits the brakes for no reason I hit them with the brights. It's my own personal experiment in conditioning.

Yeah if I'm in the right lane coming up first to a red intersection I check to see if the car behind me is signaling to turn right and change lanes if they are because I get irrationally angry if the situation is reversed and the other person doesn't move.

Speaking of brights, when did people forget that if someone flashes their brights at you (or flips their headlights on/off), it probably means you don't have your damn lights on? I'd also accept that means a cop is near by, but check your lights anyway. I'll flip them multiple times and they'll just drive along obliviously and not make eye contact when I try and point it out. It doesn't mean I'm going to kill you.

Well I've driven over 200,000 miles across all the lower 48 and I can say Illinois as a whole is pretty standard in its traffic enforcement but Chicago is uniquely lawless. People ignore more than just speeding laws. Signalling is practiced sporadically, people use the shoulder and exit lanes to get around traffic and I've noticed as Im using the toll roads more than I ever have that "exit to <wherever> is prohibited" is often interpreted as an invitation to yes please, use this exit from that lane. There are also regular shootings, which is a one-of-kind wrinkle.
