Yeah I agree. If things are really bad then back out all together and go home.

No big deal, I wasn't watching anyway. But I hope the young lady is ok. Going halfway around the world to be cooped up in a crappy quarantine just to perform in front of empty seats has to be a strain. Not to mention the goat burden she carries.

But somehow I think MANY who proudly screaming how much you can't stand and don't watch will take their bitching to new heights should the women's basketball team should stumble.

She’s obviously as great as she always been. Unfortunately she will end now with a blemish because it’s what society does. I agree she should also not play in individual events.

She's pretty clearly not OK to drop out of what is likely her final Olympics. Sounds like you agree with Rick in that she should return home ASAP to get the help she needs.

If that's what a 24 year old at the end of her competitive career needs, fine.

If Kerri Strug can do it on one leg while needing a great score to win a gold, all with a mustachioed drunken Balkan screaming in her face in a jam packed arena just yards from where a bomb went off, Simone Biles could have done what she has trained to do for years.

Iirc the U.S. team already had the gold wrapped up and her vault was strictly for endorsement deals.

I’m not sure what you’re getting at here. I hope the women’s basketball team wins gold.

The women’s soccer team, however, can go home without a medal and F themselves. I think NBC made huge mistake by making Ripone (sp?) the face of the olympics.

biles has already proven she can achieve greatness. this reminds me a little of 2012 when michael phelps came back and completely blew it for us when he didn't need to show up at all after what he did in 2008. he redeemed himself in 2016. maybe biles can still do that, but it's the same kind of feeling for me.

I doubt Biles can compete at the age of 27. Those hips are eventually gonna blow up.

Funny how you address everything except what you originally posted. Strug needed a score to win. Maybe she didn't need a "great" score, but she needed a good score to secure gold. She did this basically on one leg. I'm sure in that moment, Strug "felt the weight of the world" on her shoulders as well.

he still won 4 gold but he was not the same dominant guy he was in 2008. i'm not saying this is exactly the same thing, i'm just disappointed in her like i was with phelps in 2012. there were other guys that could've done even better. you can medal in your sleep in swimming.

We can't just defend Simone Biles for quitting, no. We have to go drag a white girl who didn't quit twenty-five years ago because...honestly I don't even know. Don't even fucking care. Black girl = good, white girl = fraud. And That's A Good Thing.

They didn’t know because Russia still had a chance to beat them. Russia had another event after Strug’s 2nd vault and mathematically could have edged the US (if they did well and the US was stuck with Strug’s first vault). I don’t know that the pedo running US gymnastics at the time could predict the future.

Strug’s 2nd vault locked it up mathematically; then the communist shat the bed, making the points from the 2nd vault retroactively unnecessary.
