That's how a man should react when another man insults his wife.

So physical violence is a desired response to verbal insult?

He defended his wife's honor.

The best way to do it is certainly open for debate.

You're equivocating. Smith responded to a verbal insult with physical violence. Is that how you think people should typically react in such situations?

I think this was all staged.

But... If it was not, I think you kinda lose all honor when you have an open relationship.

I don't think it's the best way to handle it, but I understand how people react in emotional situations.

Sometimes it is with violence.

You would have figured the guy who played Ali could throw a better punch than that.

Why did he laugh at first? Why did he throw a girly slap?

Maybe it is too many years of watching wrasslin, but it just smells like a work to me.

But either way it got people talking about a show many would have not paid any attention to.

What would be the point of faking it? An angle for Wrestlemania? Promotion for a remake of the classic Travolta/Cage movie Faceoff? I don't get it.

The two of them are starring in the woke remake of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Same reason most people do stupid shit: desire for attention.

Im sure Will Smith was really excited about staging an altercation on the night he wins Best Actor at the Oscars so everyone would think he is a dick for the rest of his life. Makes perfect sense for him to be a part of this.

Yeah Im not sure if the Academy is too excited about physical assault and their Best Actor winner dropping F bombs on camera in the name of ratings.

This is making its rounds thru social media. And if this is a real deal I would say this is pretty likely close to true.
Quote:
Will Smith at this point is completely broken.
He is not the bad guy here.
Jada is pulling all the strings.
She broke down his masculinity on television during a talk about why she cheated on him. Her excuse was “If he loved me enough he would’ve known”.
I think that Will Smith whole heartedly did not care about the joke Chris Rock made at the Oscars, but Jada looks over at Will once the camera pans away, as if to say
“if you dont stand up for me, this is why i cheated”

During commercial, Will is being comforted by all for the word violence Rock laid upon his wife.

Comedy will take another hit.

Jada seems like a real fucking kunt even without the whole cheating on my billionaire husband and I was justified in doing it angle.

Makes more sense than the “it was staged” assumption.

Will thought the joke was funny until he saw her pissed off and then he completely over-reacted and made a jackass out of himself. Nothing more than that.

I'll bet Regina Hill is breathing a sigh of relief that her cringe-worthy on-stage sexual harassment has been forgotten.

If it was a shoot then Will Smith might be psychotic. In the camera cut shown right as Rock makes the joke (meaning at least the joke was OK'd by writers/producers and worked into the production) Will is shown laughing hysterically while Jada rolls her eyes in disgust. Only then does Will get up and approach the stage. Seems like a pretty big emotional swing from laughing at a so-so movie reference joke to committing assault in front of a live audience and TV cameras.

Though if it was a work, we're looking at Screwjob-levels of secrecy, since apparently others in the business (his publicist, Denzel and others) were trying to counsel Will during TV breaks as though it were real.
