I think it's understood that when you work retail, there's a possibility of working on some holidays.
I worked retail back in the day and had to work some major holidays. I didn't bitch about it. I did my time and a half and enjoyed the extra hours on my paycheck. Not sure what your complaint is.
It's gone from working some holidays to working some really fucking bizarre hours on holidays. Who the fuck is going to be shopping at 11pm on Thanksgiving night? And for what? To save 5 bucks on a 500 dollar tv? Trust me, if the shoppers actually paid attention to how much these "sales" are giving, they would go fuck it and stay in bed.
My wife works retail (Sears,) and she's working 10pm to 4am Thursday night into Friday, and back at 3pm to midnight on Friday. Yeah, its only one day, but talk about fucking up holiday plans.
