Relating my own experience is not discounting unsafe riding. I discounted the critical incident approach.

This was the same quote you called "common sense" half an hour later.

Bikes are outnumbered at least 10 to 1. Just stands to reason their would be more behind the wheel.

Do you understand the organization behind the PSA? Do you now understand the point of the PSA?

That's why I posted the statistics that show that in terms of fatal accidents, motorcycle riders are more likely to be drunk, speeding, and unlicensed.

I understand the point of it. I did when I made my first post in this thread too.

Yeah, cars are getting more and more safe and motorcycles aren't in terms of preventing fatalities. Add in too many pub crawls and too many people treat them like toys. Not really the responsible riders the PSA addresses. Maybe take a look at the website?

No, you tried to interpret it from your non-riding perspective which left us with us this gem:

"Start Seeing Motorcycles", more like "Start Seeing Motorcycles as dangerous and take precautions for yourself and your family". I can't imagine what it feels like to make a simple mistake with your car and kill someone on a motorcycle.

I imagine it feels roughly equivalent to making a simple mistake with your car and killing a pedestrian.

There are two things going on here. The first is the PSA. The second is people who believe there are "far more horrible drivers than assbag motorcycle drivers". That isn't true unless you somehow mean in terms of sheer numbers. In that case, there are far more horrible grandmothers than al queda members too.

You see though, it's really hard to kill a pedestrian with a simple mistake especially since we are assuming that they are following the rules. It's going to be really hard for me to switch lanes and kill a pedestrian because he is in my blind spot or because he was behind another car and quickly passed it as I was moving over.

Yeah, I already qualified where I am on the "far more horrible drivers.." comment with "bikes are outnumbered at least 10 to 1. Just stands to reason there would be more behind the wheel."

Pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists are all moral commuters to me.

So, in terms of percentages, you admit that there are more horrible motorcycle drivers than horrible car drivers?

Motorcycling is an inherently dangerous activity and, all driving habits being equal, will lead to more fatalities than automobiles.

That's not what I asked, but your non-answer qualifies as enough of an answer for me.

As long as you understand my answer was "no", then sure, run with that.

Ha ha ha! That is my biggest pet peeve, along with stick figure families on the back of minivans and urinating Calvins.

In all seriousness, where did she think she was going to cross? Was she unable to see the hundreds of motorcycles which would certainly have prevented her from safely crossing? Things like this bother me.

Yeah, and that is another reason to not ride motorcycles. Some space cadet walks into traffic, you hit her and you and your bike are waaaaay more messed up than she is. That's a raw deal, man

My neighbor has a Harley.
I hate him. He tries to be the loudest asshole he can be at like fucking 2am he's revving that mother up at the stopsign in front of my house.
He was so loud, he drowned out WZ at a Lakemoorfest while playing.
Remember that Z?

We can all agree that people with stick figure families on their back window are the biggest assholes of them all, right?

How about just agree that there are a ton of idiot drivers regardless of what form of transportation they are using.
I have seen the typical rich trouser stain in his infiniti or audi weaving in and out of traffic on 90 whilst getting a bj from his mistress and on the phone to his wife at the same time...but then i have seen a group of bikers driving safer then some school buses and vice versa.

What they need is a "Stop driving like a asshat and be responsible regardless of what you are driving" campaign.

I saw a stick figure family where one of them was an angel hovering eerily above the others. I guess they did not intend for it to be creepy, but no sane person could look at that and not be horrified.

That is seriously mentally deranged.
