Yes. It was a dirty hit, yet I have heard too many people make excuses for it, for the last 48 hours.

Who?

Seriously? Go back, and re-read these threads. Let Curious Hair be Curious Hair.

Mac and Rozner both have said it wasn't that bad.

Mac said what a majority of Hawk fans have said - It was nice to see a piece of shit like Backes get hit like that but it was a stupid hit and it hurt the Hawks chances of winning the game.

Mac said that he saw several things in that game that were worse than Seabrook's hit, and I couldn't disagree more.

When somebody says:

Quote:

They are justifying it.

Again, let's not focus on the hit, or my opinion of it, no matter how correct it is. The Hawks have lost their composure. That is the story.

I didn't hear that part. From the parts of the show I listened to he was pretty consistent that playing dirty is stupid and that the Hawks need to stop playing like that if they want to win. A cursory glance at the Hawks/Blues thread on here showed the same thing. I don't think most Hawk fans are cheering the hit or that style of play.

You are correct. Mac did say the dirty play was stupid, but he tried to minimize how dirty Seabrook's hit was, as well as the knee on knee attempt by Bickell, which was right out of Slapshot.

Rozner, and many others, including people here, are trying to compare Seabrook's hit to those levied by others. "But, they did it too" is a justification, no matter how Curious Hair wants to spin it.

I think that too many homers see my avatar and think I have it out for the Hawks. I don't like the Blues either, and both have been the Red Wings' bitch, for the better part of twenty years.

Only reason it was a bad hit was cause Backes lost the puck. Backes reaches for the puck behind his body as he's turning towards the corner, he loses the puck, continues heading towards the corner, turns his head back looking for the puck instead of looking up ice and gets his clock cleaned.

From Seabrook's point of view, he sees Backes go for the puck, turn towards the corner and keep going so in the heat of the moment he made the incorrect assumption that Backes still had the puck on his stick and he did what anyone would do in that situation.

If Backes doesn't lose the puck, he turns up ice, keeps his head up and sees Seabrook coming in time to get out of the way or brace for the impact which would've gotten him square in the chest rather than the face since he wouldn't be looking back for the puck.

Seabrook gets 3 games for Backes having stone hands.

He hit Backes at least one and a half seconds after the puck was gone. That is more than enough time to hit him somewhere other than squarely in the head. I see it several times in every hockey game I watch. Even the Bruins were peeling back yesterday.

Just watched it again, not even a second has passed. Seabrook definitely at fault for not seeing that Backes didn't have the puck. But, there wasn't any malicious intent on Seabrook's part, he believed that Backes was in possession.

You start it with me every time. I was talking about hockey, you made it about me. You constantly accuse me of constructing strawmen arguments, when I have done no such thing.

For somebody who claims to hate Bernstein as much as you do, you are awfully similar.

I admit that I start it with Chas. You don't share the same self awareness.

Come on Chus, if you asked the question "Who?" and got this response you would not accept it.

You are better than this.

But, I answered it (See: bolded text). I think we can all agree that media members, and self-proclaimed "hockey guys", are a better indicator, than mouth breathing fans.

Barry Rozner ‏@BarryRozner 7m
Refs have clearly adopted a no-concussion-no-foul policy.

It seemed to me the question of "Who?" was more in regard to who around here was doing that. But maybe not.

It's not an excuse, shit happens but it seems like it's never for us. It was a bad hit, ended up being "dirty" but Seabrook thought he had the puck. I don't really like seeing anybody hurt but at the same time, fuck Backes and fuck the Blues. They are assholes. If that makes me one so be it.

That sounds like Hawk Harrelson.

Quote:

It was bad. He had enough time to not blast him directly in the head. I don't care what anybody says, Seabrook could have avoided it, if he wanted to. The fact that he is not a dirty player, and I don't believe he is, doesn't change this.

Quote:

This is the part that I don't get. Why are they assholes? Because they were beating the Hawks? The Canucks and their fans are assholes.

I don't think you are an asshole.

The Blues are raging penises. They are the new Canucks.

And I don't think Seabrook could have avoided it. The replay doesn't look like it.
