All I'm saying is that to celebrate the accomplishments of 12 year olds who are playing Little League Baseball to the extent they do is silly. Just because they are the best amongst 12 year olds? Why not celebrate the guys who win 50 and over senior leagues? They are the best at their age too... How many of these 12 year olds will ever be drafted, much less play at the major league level? Probably zero. Bernstein is right-it's Face in the Crowd material.

And maybe just maybe it's silly to have radio stations (with collapsing ratings) that are nothing but 24 hour sports in a city filled with losing franchisesJust because they are the best amongst 12 year olds? And yet they both pour over racing lines for 3 year horses, always crow about young JB's exploits playing goalie in a pee wee league, ridiculously shagging flies for HS kids @Wrigley or playing in a big $$ camp or being a bat boy, why stop there? Why not celebrate the guys who win 50 and over senior leagues? For years we have, it's called the Senior PGA tour, or fawning over the latest old bastard to take the honorary 1st tee @ AugustaThey are the best at their age too... How many of these 12 year olds will ever be drafted, much less play at the major league level? Probably zero. And exactly what is the greater point there? That nothing matters, unless you basically hit the athletic lotto?Bernstein is right-it's Face in the Crowd material. And yet how much time did they waste talking about Lance Armstrong in a sport no one cares about?

Is anyone making this argument though? Jesus, just let it be what it is, a cool story that kills that unbearable time before football season starts.

For as many people around here that rip Bernstein there are sure a whole hell of a lot of folks that have just as miserable a worldview as he does.

#Truth. Debbie Downers. I doubt they are that way with their kids.

I think at least two or three of these kids will get drafted. In 2012 three inner city kids were drafted, four in 2013 and three in 2014. There will be at least two drafted this coming year and I don't see this trend ending anytime soon.

Hey guys... how are you? Thanks for taking my call. I was just thinking last night, and I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but the Bears run defense hasn't looked as good as it has in the past. I'll hang up and listen to what you guys think.

One of the phrases I loathe most is "thanks for taking my call." They should be thanking you, you dumb fuck! Thanking the hosts automatically puts you in a subservient position. Total bitch move.

I totally agree. I NEVER thank hosts for taking my calls. I am helping to fill their radio broadcast with my contributions. I generally say Good morning or Good Afternoon and then immediately get to the comment/question. I also don't ask how they are. I assume since they are not home taking a sick day, they are okay. Asking how they are, is a rookie move.

Many prefer to take the low road and respond to the poster and not the post.

I'm glad you recognize it. The way you antagonize Mcnown is tiresome.

Stop it.

You don't mean that.

More than you!

By the way, I think your moniker is offensive to the native American community.

If that is how you feel Steve, why do you brag about your softball and bowling accomplishments?

It is all the more important for a person to have his one moment in the sun should this be the one public accomplishment in his life. Everyone deserves his moment.

ESPN however, would take Romeo and Juliet and make it a 2 am closing time hookup.

My five minutes in the sun was my on-air argument with Harry and Mac back in 2007, in regards to Josh Hancock's death.

I jumped around behind some local news team interviewing a politician at the Jefferson Park El stop on my way home from high school

Or any other major sport, as Steve so blatantly put it. No other sport ever. I guess Steve has never heard of Margaret Court, Annika Sorenstam, Billie Jean King, or Ceasar Isturis.

I think it's conceivable that some girl like her, or her, could develop a knuckleball and advance.

Not every successful male pitcher was cranking it up at 85+.

Odds are against her but it could happen.
