This is normally why two vaccines are given. It takes the odds down much more. This gets the efficacy closer to 100%.

I'm really not trying to sound like a jerk here, but this is basic level stuff that you really shouldn't even be responding with if you are truly an informed patient.

There are people that think that they shouldn't vaccinate their kids because of one discredited study by a doctor who was stripped of his license because of falsifying information because of the risk of autism which has no supportable evidence. It's a major problem that is letting these diseases come back and is putting children, health care workers, and all of us at risk for some pretty serious side effects down the road.

We all should care. As someone who hopes one day to have a newborn, I hope the hospital they are born at isn't dealing with patients with measles and other diseases currently considered eradicated.

If there is a known medical reason for not vaccinating, then I'm all for it, and so are doctors and the whole medical community.

That is truly why Jenny McCarthy and her terrible stance is so damaging. There are actual kids that can't get vaccinated for a variety of real reasons. From what I just looked up, we need 95%+ vaccination rates in our country in order to keep herd immunity at effective levels. That is seriously in danger in the future.
